Quick Quotes
Q. So take us through the round, tell us the highlights, what went well, what was tough for today.
ABRAHAM ANCER: Well, yeah, it was definitely tricky, windy, and just kind of gusty. It wasn't very consistent. I knew that a round somewhere around even-par is going to be a good round but definitely wanted to score knowing that the greens were still soft even though it was tricky to get close because of the wind.
The greens are definitely slower than what they normally are. I left a lot of putts short that they looked pretty good.
But it was a good fight. I'm not super pleased but also not mad about my score. Definitely bogeying the last stings a little bit, but just gives you a little more pep in your step for tomorrow.
Q. You were hurt last week. You were talking about this at the beginning of the week. How did you feel? Your back felt good? You were in pain?
ABRAHAM ANCER: No, physically I felt 100 percent, so I'm very pleased with that. I wish I had more time to practice before I got here. I pretty much started practicing on Tuesday, and we got rained out, so I didn't get that much prep. But physically I feel 100 percent, which is nice.
Q. What about the difference of energy here from 2020 when you started to having all the patrons here, all the roars and everything?
ABRAHAM ANCER: Yeah, it's awesome. Plus having Tiger too playing in the event makes a big difference. And it's nice to have him. I love the roars. Getting pumped up when you make a birdie. So that's definitely nice to have him back.
Q. How is your mental approach different as you walk to the 1st tee at Augusta National versus other majors and other tournaments?
ABRAHAM ANCER: I don't really -- I like to trick myself and just tell myself that this is just another tournament, which it's not, but I like to think that way just so I don't put more pressure. I just pick a target and just try to hit it right there.
I know it's super pretty, and it's the biggest tournament in the world, but I like to just think it's another golf course, another tournament that I have to just show up and figure out how to play this golf course the right way.
Q. Have you been good at tricking yourself so far?
ABRAHAM ANCER: I think so. Definitely the first year helped when there was nobody out here. So that kind of eased -- everything kind of was a little bit easier to not feel that much pressure. But then on Sunday being in the final group, I would definitely feel a lot of pressure.
Yeah, I enjoy it out here. I love the Masters.
