Quick Quotes
Q. First Masters, what was that like?
LUCAS HERBERT: It was pretty cool. It was just interesting to see how it all plays in the tournament. Yeah, just a very cool experience at the same time as being quite nice. Yeah, just get out there and play some golf around here and keep a scorecard in your pocket on some of these crazy greens and holes.
Q. It got really windy out there. How did you handle those conditions? You're a good ball flighter, but those conditions, the wind was going everywhere at different times.
LUCAS HERBERT: Yeah, it's just tricky. It's not really that consistent out there. I hit a shot on 12 that I thought I hit it probably 150 yards, and it's going 135 maybe, and you're sort of like how does that come up so short? Then all of a sudden, you feel the gust come in your face. That will make sense why.
Yeah, it just didn't feel -- it just never really feels like, when you're hitting a shot, the wind that you're feeling at your person is also what's at the green. So it's just tricky to commit, tricky to trust that those winds are going to be what you're predicting.
Yeah, you can see why the hype about this place being so tricky to pick the wind is real.
Q. What are you proud of most today? You took on the golf course. It's pretty difficult. What are you proud of most that you learned from today to talk into tomorrow?
LUCAS HERBERT: I feel like I had the greens pretty well under control. The speed wasn't great, but it sort of feels like the first time out here it's very hard to get the greens, to figure out which way some of these putts are breaking. I feel like I picked a few putts, a few lines that were quite tricky, so I was pretty proud of that.
Just proud of sort of battling away. I'm not too far away. I think 4 or 5-under might be leading now. You play well tomorrow morning, and you're not that far away again. So I haven't shot myself out of the tournament, I guess.
