Augusta, Georgia, USA
Quick Quotes
Q. Talk to us about the game.
AUSTIN GREASER: Yeah, I'm very excited. I got a lot of "Go Heels" support out there today from just about everybody it felt like. Really excited watching tonight, and I think it's cool for them to be there and me to kind of learn from some of their press conferences because I have a pretty big event almost like a national championship coming this week. A lot to learn from those guys and all the best and can't wait to watch tonight. Pulling for them hard.
Q. It wasn't your first round here in Augusta?
AUSTIN GREASER: No, so I've been here several times actually. I think today was probably my seventh round total. I used all five of my visits they gave me, definitely took advantage of all of those. Have to. Not the first but the first time with this many people out here. Definitely a little bit different, definitely a different level of comfort with it and still trying to get in the groove a little bit, but we'll find out come Thursday.
Q. It was a big difference coming here this week to practice?
AUSTIN GREASER: A hundred percent. A hundred percent. It looks a lot different. It's very cool, though, right, so it's exactly what you would imagine, exactly what you dream of. Honestly it boils down to the way you execute shots doesn't change. Maybe get some claps along with it, but you've still got to execute, still got to get out there and play your game plan and see how it goes.
Q. Can you describe a little bit that game plan? Are there some important things, kind of your expectations?
AUSTIN GREASER: Yeah, probably a lot of what everybody tells you. You've got to drive it pretty well here. A lot of drivers really. I think I hit drivers on every hole except for 10 and 13 where you've kind of got to work it a little bit more. I like to play a fade so I kind of kind of dropped down there and hit a 3-wood, easier for me to turn over, but a lot of drivers and then you've just got to make sure you're in the right spots on the greens and putt it really well this week. I think that's pretty much what probably everybody has told you, but a lot of drivers, miss in the right spots and putt it well, and you should be in a pretty good spot.
Q. What's the strongest part of your game that you can apply here?
AUSTIN GREASER: Putting for sure. I'm very comfortable -- I grew up in the Midwest on bentgrass greens, so these greens are very comfortable to me, and I think I can read them pretty well, too, so we'll see what happens at the end of the week, but I definitely feel pretty comfortable on the greens. It's not easy but comfortable.
Q. Has anyone asked you about the title game yet?
AUSTIN GREASER: Yes.
Q. What was your reaction after the game on Saturday?
AUSTIN GREASER: Yeah, it was crazy. What a heck of a game, and I don't think either of the teams lost it. One just won, and it's pretty cool to go to Carolina, especially beat duke in a Final Four, so that's what a rivalry is about, and it was everything you could have asked for. It came down to the last two, three minutes. Almost I wish I could have been there, but it was fun watching from the couch, and I was jumping up and down and scream, so it was a lot of fun.
Q. From the couch here?
AUSTIN GREASER: I was actually at a hotel and then my house started on Sunday, so at a hotel watching with my family and my swing coach. But it was a lot of fun.
Q. Any plans tonight? Where are you going to watch it?
AUSTIN GREASER: That's a great question. I think it's going to be at the house tonight, but we're going to have just about everybody over. It's probably going to be a dozen or more. I'm really excited. Not everybody is a Tar Heel, but -- there's a couple Kentucky fans so they don't like Kansas, either. They'll probably pull for UNC tonight and it'll be a lot of fun to watch it with family and friends and it'll give me a way to kind of chill out and have some fun, too.
Q. So if you weren't here you would be in New Orleans?
AUSTIN GREASER: That's right. I would definitely try to be if it worked out.
