Press Conference
Q. Mark, we kind of followed you four your first three holes. You were kind of struggling in the first three holes, but looked like you kind of caught fire. What a way to finish there on the final hole.
MARK ANDERSON: Yeah, it was a little sketchy to start. I struggled with the speed of greens early and kind of got in my head for the rest of the round.
It was a great way to finish. Really nice solid back nine. Wasn't playing that easy, and birdie 17 was huge and 18 was a nice bonus to get me in the final group.
Q. What does it mean to you being an hour from home and being from Buford and not only playing in this tournament, but having a legit chance to win it?
MARK ANDERSON: It's nice. It's a bonus really. This is a bonus week. It's not really an away game. I get to stay at home and be comfortable. I've got my family here. Routine at the house is put the kids to bed, make them breakfast; doesn't really change. I think wife has appreciated it.
Q. Going to ask if you've had a lot of friends and family out here this weekend.
MARK ANDERSON: Got a lot of friends that made it down the last couple days. My mom and my wife and kids came out today.
So we've had good support. Probably the same tomorrow.
Q. On 18 did you know that you had a shot coming up to take the solo lead?
MARK ANDERSON: No, not really. I mean, I was just trying to make a 4, made it the hard way. That's a bonus. Sleep an extra couple minutes maybe.
Yeah, it is great finish. Really, really happy with the birdie on 17 more than anything. Nice way to finish.
Q. Tell me about how you're feeling now that you have the lead heading into round four?
MARK ANDERSON: I feel good. Nothing really changes for tomorrow. Stay patient like I was today, which was good.
Could have got away early but held it together nicely. Nothing is going to change. It's going to be another beautiful day tomorrow.
Q. I know you don't want to get ahead of yourself, but can you think now or maybe tonight will you be thinking about, boy, how nice this would be if I finished this deal tomorrow and win it here?
MARK ANDERSON: Yeah, obviously it will be nice, but nothing really -- like I said, nothing is going to change. Mentality on the first tee tomorrow is going to be the same as the last three days: Just keeping it in play, play smart, make a few putts, and see what happens at the end.
There will be only low scores tomorrow, so I'm going to have to post something. That's next step. One step at a time.
Q. Mark, you're very even-keeled and cool, calm, and collected, even though you're sitting solo leader. Is that something that you had to learn throughout your career? Is this kind of your personality, kind of natural?
MARK ANDERSON: I think it's probably my personality. As a young -- maybe as young rookie I was probably a little more jumpy. I've been doing this for a long time now, so taking the good with the bad, and it's easier to stay calm and ride the wave.
I think I'm pretty relaxed regardless of how I play. One step at a time.
Q. When was your first time playing this tournament?
MARK ANDERSON: I played here the first year they had it I think four, five years ago maybe.
Q. When was the last time you were in this position going into the final round?
MARK ANDERSON: Probably last summer when I won in Bogota a couple years, few years ago, last time I was out here. I had the lead in Bogota and played really solid the last day, last round.
So I know how do it. I did it in BMW as well. Had the lead going into the final day. So I enjoy it. I kind of like having the lead as opposed to having to make up a bunch of shots. Then I can play my own game and not have to worry about anybody else.
