Augusta, Georgia, USA
Quick Quotes
Q. I imagine you're quite pleased with your position through 36 holes. How do you feel?
EMMA SPITZ: Yeah, I think it was a good two rounds. I played really solid. I tried to just make as many pars as possible. I think over the years that I've played here I've seen that this is just the key on this course to just stay really steady.
I was able to make a few good birdies, which was nice, on the back nine. So I'm very happy going into tomorrow's round.
Q. This is kind of old hat to you at this point now. What's your process going in through the practice round?
EMMA SPITZ: I don't think it ever gets old process. Augusta, you just have so many different shots you can get in the tournament. I think every time going there I'll probably see more shots, which is nice, and I'll just try to figure the course out even better than last year with my caddie and then see what happens tomorrow.
Q. What have you learned your other trips there?
EMMA SPITZ: I think the key is it's really good to hit the fairways because, if you're on the fairways, you can go for pins and use the slopes to your advantage. I think, once you miss the fairways, it's kind of really hard to put yourself in position on the greens.
So I'm just going to try to hit a lot of fairways and hit some greens and maybe make a few putts.
Q. Are you using a local caddie?
EMMA SPITZ: Yeah, I'm using a local caddie.
Q. How did you kind of make that determination?
EMMA SPITZ: Well, I actually like last year I got here and none of my family members were able to travel with me from Europe. So I just chose to take a local caddie, and it worked out really well last year. So I just asked him to caddie for me again. So far it's been really nice. We get along super well, so that's always nice.
Q. What's it like having fans in attendance? Is it just a different atmosphere?
EMMA SPITZ: It's so fun. I love playing in front of people. When we play in college, there's always very few people. Here it's super fun. I think it's so nice that women's golf is being presented so much on TV now. It's just amazing for the game.
