Augusta, Georgia, USA
Quick Quotes
Q. Your impressions of Augusta National?
ASHLEY LAU: It was very nice. I got to play with two of my friends, which feels really good, and the course just looks amazing out there.
Q. What was going through your mind when you got the invitation?
ASHLEY LAU: Honestly, it was very unexpected. It was late night, and I was packing to go to Arizona for a tournament. So when I got that call, I was very excited.
Q. You have experience with USGA events and internationally. Are you going to be able to count on any of that stuff to get you through this week?
ASHLEY LAU: Yeah, I think so. But I guess my goal is just to have fun this week, so yeah.
Q. You have a Michigan teammate with you and other Big Ten players as well. Any kinship with that?
ASHLEY LAU: Yeah, I'm really close with my teammate Hailey, and a few of the other Big Ten girls are here too, and I know them from like tournaments we play in. It's very nice, yeah.
Q. Have they given you any advice for this week at all?
ASHLEY LAU: I haven't seen a lot of them today, but I'll be talking to Hailey tonight.
Q. Ashley, you've been playing some of your best golf to start off 2022. What is your confidence level right now?
ASHLEY LAU: I would say very high right now. Hopefully I'll be taking that confidence into tomorrow and Thursday, so yeah.
Q. (No microphone)?
ASHLEY LAU: I would say after I won my second tournament I was like, wow, I'm playing really good right now. So try to keep that ball rolling.
Q. How nice is it to have Hailey out here too?
ASHLEY LAU: I was sad I didn't get to play a practice round with her today because I got in late so she already signed up with another friend. It's really nice to have her here with me. We just have a really unbreakable bond, which is nice.
Q. What was the trip like coming in?
ASHLEY LAU: Very tiring. We did a red eye, and I got to the hotel around 9:00 a.m. and tried to take a nap but couldn't. I had practice after, and dinner was -- it was amazing, but I was just really tired.
Q. (No microphone)?
ASHLEY LAU: I would say it's hard, but recovery will be key this week because we were in Arizona, it was very hot. So drinking a lot of water, hydrating myself, and just trying to eat and drink on the course will be key this week.
