Augusta, Georgia, USA
Quick Quotes
Q. You just walked off the course. Initial thoughts?
LOUISE DUNCAN: Yeah, it's a tough course. It's not really what I'm used to. I really didn't expect the greens to be that firm. So I think it's going to be a bit of a challenge for everyone. It's a lovely course. It's in great condition. Should be a good week.
Q. What are you going to take away from your practice round into the next two rounds of play?
LOUISE DUNCAN: Hopefully know where my game's at. It's a bit early in the season for me. I've not played a lot of golf. By now I haven't really played that much. So to see where my game's at and where I can improve, that's going to be the main thing.
Q. Anything you were looking forward to on the schedule or anything you're most looking forward to?
LOUISE DUNCAN: I think the chance to see Augusta National. It's a dream of everyone's to play. So to get there on Friday and potentially play the second round would be even better.
Q. Let's say hypothetically on Saturday you're the champion, how is that going to rank with the success you had last summer?
LOUISE DUNCAN: I think it's going to roll over to be honest. It would be up there definitely.
Q. You played really well in two events last year, especially making the cut and being the low amateur at the major. Anything you can take away from those experiences that will help you this week?
LOUISE DUNCAN: Just the confidence really to know that I can do it, and when the putts start to drop, it's always going to be a good thing. Just a bit of confidence and just a bit of self-belief really.
Q. Have you talked to anybody who's played here before? Did they give you any advice coming into the week on how to kind of handle it all?
LOUISE DUNCAN: I actually haven't.
Q. What's the confidence level like going into this week?
LOUISE DUNCAN: I would just say I haven't really played that much. It's all right. Could be better. Could be more, I don't know. I hit the ball nice, so hopefully I can just hit it in the right spots.
Q. How's your travel coming into Augusta?
LOUISE DUNCAN: Long. We went to Amsterdam first and had a four-hour layover. So we were a bit jet lagged. It's a long travel from Scotland. So I'm hopefully over it now because I've been here for about a week or so. It was just quite long.
Q. What are some of the emotions coming in as a first time player?
LOUISE DUNCAN: A bit of nerves. Obviously the best players in the world here. So to be among them, I'm a wee bit nervous.
Q. What does it mean for you to be invited to this event, and how important do you think this is for amateur golf?
LOUISE DUNCAN: It's just going to be huge for women's amateur golf. This is the third time it's been played, and just the setup and how everyone is getting treated is just massive to the players. The best tour players there. Yeah, it's been amazing so far. I can't wait for the rest of the week.
Q. Do you have a favorite meal that you like to eat before you play a round?
LOUISE DUNCAN: No, I'm quite like, if I fancy it, I'll go get it. Nothing special.
Q. Since you came such a long way, have you noticed the different cuisines since you've been in the U.S. and Augusta?
LOUISE DUNCAN: Yeah, so everything's like double the size here. And I quite like the refill thing. As soon as your drink's nearly finished, whoever's serving you comes and brings you a new one, which I quite like, but it's not really good for my teeth because I keep on ordering fizzy drinks and stuff.
Q. So you know sort of how the South is with fast food. Do you have any bucket list items that you'd like to try?
LOUISE DUNCAN: I really want to go to Wendy's. I haven't been yet, don't know why. I've been to Chipotle, Chick-Fil-A, but Wendy's is up there. And Five Guys is good.
Q. Still pretty good overall, just depends what you're looking for?
LOUISE DUNCAN: I just basically want to go back to Scotland obese. That's the goal. (Laughter).
