Quick Quotes
Q. Thoughts on the course out there today? I know the greens are new, but just kind of talk about what's the -- what are the challenges going to be out there the next few days?
SARA KOUSKOVA: I think today, especially with the wind we got on the front nine, some of the holes are playing quite long. Yeah, the greens, as you said, were firm, but I think that's going to be the same for everybody. A lot of patience on the course I think will be necessary and good pace on the putting green. That's the main things, I think.
Q. Do you know how much your wedges are bouncing?
SARA KOUSKOVA: It depends. Obviously, some of the pins were like today on 18, like they're in the hole -- I mean, in the little bottom of the shoals, but we'll see.
Obviously the longer clubs will release a little more. Some of the wedges, obviously into the green, were stopping pretty well. I would say for the wedges it's maximum like two to five yards.
Q. Are you a good firm green player and good in the wind? How would you characterize yourself?
SARA KOUSKOVA: I think from Europe we get quite a good experience, especially playing in the Isles. But we'll see. It's tough, for sure, playing on firm greens and the wind too.
Q. Can you explain how big golf is in the Czech Republic?
SARA KOUSKOVA: We have about 50,000 players, I would say, and around a little more than a hundred golf courses. It's still growing. I'm glad that the Federation does some good work these days and they try to introduce the game to the younger ones as well more to the public. It's growing, I would say. Not obviously as big as here, but we're trying.
Q. Who are some of the kind of big players from there maybe on the men's side and on the amateurs side, on the women's side.
SARA KOUSKOVA: Our biggest star is probably still Klara Spilkova. She played on the LPGA Tour and now is playing on the Epson. On the men's side, we had Ondrej Lieser, who was in the Olympics with Klara last year. Younger players in the colleges, we have Jiri Zuska. He's a really good player. And some of the younger girls also on the college side.
Q. How much of an inspiration was it to watch the Olympics? Did you watch most of it?
SARA KOUSKOVA: I didn't have the chance to watch it much because we were playing. It's amazing. I feel like Olympics is the biggest golf ever in sports. It was amazing to see that we had two players there.
Q. What do you think contending on Saturday in this tournament, what kind of impact do you think that will have back home?
SARA KOUSKOVA: The celebration will be amazing. Me getting into this tournament is obviously a nice input to back home. It will be amazing to be in contention.
Q. What do you think the celebration will be like? Fireworks? Drinks?
SARA KOUSKOVA: I don't know. I would love to see that. So I'll just be surprised, I guess.
