Quick Quotes
Q. A quick overview of your round today and feelings going into tomorrow.
ABRAHAM ANCER: Yeah, that was a battle. I knew playing Webb was going to be really tough. He's got all the experience in the world and such a steady player and that's what you need for match play.
I thought I was playing really good, solid all day, really, and then just kind of -- I didn't really hit any bad shots, just didn't make putts when I needed to. I made some good ones but not the ones that were really, really clutch there towards the end.
Got a little help from him there on 17, and then I hit a really good drive on 18 to make sure I had a look for birdie. So, yeah, just really happy and exhausted. Definitely match play can wear you out because you got to be completely locked in on every shot.
Q. Moving from the pool stage to the knockout stage, does anything change in your mentality or do you still just go out and play the guy across from you?
ABRAHAM ANCER: Same thing. You're always going out there trying to win, feeling like if you don't win, you're not going to advance. So now it's real. Now you're for sure not advancing if you don't win.
So I'm excited. I love match play. It's a lot of fun. And, yeah, I'm just looking forward to it.
Q. How did you feed off the crowd? It seems like you had a big following today. Did that help you any today?
ABRAHAM ANCER: That was awesome. I felt like I was playing at home and I'm in Austin, Texas. So that was really cool. There's a lot of Mexicans out there, a lot of Latinos out here that came out to support. I saw lot of people from my hometown, which is awesome. The chants and all the cheers were really special.
Q. What do you think it's going to take this championship home?
ABRAHAM ANCER: Yeah, it's going to take just pretty much flawless play unless you get paired with someone that happens to have a bad round. But it's tough to see that, in the round of 16, usually you got to go out there and play some really good golf and, yeah, just minimize mistakes. You just have to be hitting a lot of greens and making some putts.
Q. Favorite golf movie?
ABRAHAM ANCER: Happy Gilmore, for sure.
