Quick Quotes
Q. Just a recap of your round today obviously moving on to the next round. How does that feel?
SEAMUS POWER: I didn't play my best today. I played probably the worst I've played. It was a weird day obviously because not winning but still going through. So the goal the start of the week was to get into knockouts, or the goal in the group is to get through and get on to the knockout stages. So I was able to do this so tidy up a couple things this afternoon and go from there.
Q. You say tidy up a couple things. What are you doing until tomorrow?
SEAMUS POWER: Yeah. Have some lunch and do some practice, just a couple things I wasn't quite happy with it.
But it was just one of those days. I had a couple putts on the first and second that can change the course of the match if you make some of those and it wasn't quite my day in terms of that.
And, yeah, so it was just a couple of things that, just a couple little shots here and there and kind of just go back and rest and see what happens tomorrow.
Q. You said the beginning of the week your mindset make it through the pool play and knockout round. Now you're there, does the mindset change?
SEAMUS POWER: No, absolutely not. Obviously you want to get to knockout, and now, not that it, but it kind of actually restarts to a certain extent. Now it's full knockout. And, again, it's all new to me so it's going to be exciting. Looking forward to tomorrow.
Q. Your thoughts about your next match with Tyrrell Hatton tomorrow.
SEAMUS POWER: Yeah, I actually played first, played a practice round with him at THE PLAYERS two weeks ago now. Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. He's a Ryder Cup guy, obviously a fellow European and so kind of looking forward to it and see what happens.
Q. Looking at your record over the past one year, about a year ago you were like ranked 400 in the world, top 50 in the world now, you're through to the next round of the match play here, just your thoughts about this past one year and how things have changed for you.
SEAMUS POWER: Yeah, obviously, yeah, my golf has improved. That's what's changed. Things don't quite seem as hard on the golf course. But besides that still, I'm really enjoying it and looking forward to playing my next round.
Q. Was it like a case of finding something that clicked in you suddenly or you woke up on the right side of the bed kind of thing?
SEAMUS POWER: No, it was just a few things, I kind of had to get some stuff figured out kind of with my game and I was able to figure that out and make some improvement with like wedges and putting and that sort of stuff. I think that's a common misconception, the margins out here are so small, even this week obviously the top-ranked guys are favored to go through, but it's only like a shot per round maybe they might be better than anyone else whoever is 64 or the whatever the lowest rank ended up being. Those things are small margins, so if you could just make one less mistake, one less good shot, one less putt or one more putt holed and the whole kind of shape of your career can change.
So to be able to tidy some of those things up and there's still things to do, but I'm definitely on the right track.
