Quick Quotes
Q. Started two bogeys in the first three, finished with a bogey, but you had eight birdies in the middle.
EMILY KRISTINE PEDERSEN: Kind of a slow start, but I hit a lot of good shots. Then on the last one I think I hit it in the back bunker. Sort of a tough one there, but I was trying to take the water out of play. Kind of like a s--t happens bogey. I don't know, it was good.
I hit it well yesterday, but obviously we played in the afternoon and it was super tough. Eight birdies is a lot to build on. If I can keep that amount of birdies on the weekend and tighten up a little more, then I should be up there.
Q. Georgia said yesterday it was a six-club wind yesterday.
EMILY KRISTINE PEDERSEN: I do actually think it's some of the toughest conditions I've played in. Obviously, I have a memory of a British Open in Turnberry and then at a Scottish Open a couple years back, but this is up there. Yesterday was up there with that wind. It's crazy.
I'm one of the long hitters, and I punched a 6-iron out of the semi, and it was short of the green from 120 metres. The greens are not set up to be that windy because like with all the run-offs in front of the green, I hit a lot of great shots that just ended up in that spot.
It happens. It's part of golf. It's just luck of the draw. I was happy to go out there and show a bit today, and hopefully I can build on that on the weekend.
Q. What was your thought on that first day?
EMILY KRISTINE PEDERSEN: Just trying to hit good shots. I know I was striking them all yesterday, and I knew if I could do that today with a bit less wind, I should get some better chances. So I wasn't fooling myself last night trying to be positive but just take it one shot at a time and see how many birdies I can make.
