THE PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP

March 13, 2022

Seamus Power

Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, USA

TPC Sawgrass

Quick Quotes

Q. Talk about the decision last night; did you have time to think about whether or not you wanted to hit the shot on 17 and having to sleep on that?

SEAMUS POWER: No, the group in front of us was on the green when the horn went, so we didn't have a choice and we were done. It's an unusual place to start, but the shot was definitely easier this morning, so probably worked out in my favor.

Q. You played four straight days, I think only one hole on Thursday or two?

SEAMUS POWER: Yeah, it's pretty funny, we played a hole and a half on Thursday, played 12 holes, I think, something like that on Friday, and then 20 yesterday and two so far this morning. It's been strange. One of the more unusual ones I've ever played in terms of stop-start.

But it is what it is. It's one of those things you get on with it the best you can, and hopefully I'll go get a rest and be ready for this afternoon.

Q. You gave a stroke back on 18, but otherwise 2-under after playing in probably the most difficult conditions of the two waves. Do you feel pretty good at least where you are?

SEAMUS POWER: Yeah. It's still cold this morning for those guys, but that happens sometimes throughout the year. Again, you just do the best you can. Yeah, pretty pleased overall. It was one of those days yesterday in particular could have got away from you very quickly the way the wind was blowing. It was pretty treacherous. It was good not to have any big numbers yesterday and to drop one and still finish under par is pretty pleasing overall.

Q. Yesterday did you have any shots that really stood out?

SEAMUS POWER: I know on 9 I hit like 74 yards, and you're standing there at 74 yards wondering if it's 90 to 95 yards, which is very difficult because it looks like you could throw it on the green, and it still came up like way short because I got a gust.

That was the thing, just to remain patient, because I hit a couple shots that were good shots and then you get the wrong gust and it goes -- you can miss your spot by 25 yards with a pretty decent shot. It's one of those days you have to stay patient, and I was able to hit some good shots into some of the tougher parts of the course, so I was able to kind of hang in there as best I could.

Q. Considering the circumstances, how good is 2-under through two rounds?

SEAMUS POWER: Yeah, as I said, not bad. It's going to be good for the weekend so that's always a good start. Hopefully guys don't get too far away.

It is what it is. It's a good spot. You're obviously disappointed to bogey the last. Could have been a little better here or there, but overall I'm pretty pleased. The last couple of days, we had rain for a lot of our round on Friday and very strong winds yesterday.

I was kind of proud of hanging in there and kind of staying patient not really knowing what was going to happen with the tournament, with the rounds and stuff, so yeah, overall pretty pleased.

Q. What have you been doing with the downtime and what will you do with the downtime until you play late again today?

SEAMUS POWER: Yeah, it's going to be like this afternoon. I'm just going to go get some breakfast and kind of warm up. It's tough to do much because the first couple days you weren't sure. It was like short delays here or short delays there, and then you're trying to conserve energy because there's a chance you could have long days.

It's tricky so I've just kind of been hanging out with Simon, one of my buddies Pete is in town, so we're just going to not really do much to be honest, just watching some sports on TV and kind of take it easy.
