Quick Quotes
Q. Lucy, wonderful 64 today. After being such an accomplished amateur golfer, what's been the biggest difference transitioning to the pro tour?
LUCY LI: You know, I had a pretty tough golf transition. With the first COVID year I played really good, but I just -- it was harder because they were giving out less cards.
And then last year I struggled quite a bit. You know, I think there is a transition period for everyone and you just have to be patient; eventually it will work out.
Q. Can you tell us, how did you get so good at such a young age?
LUCY LI: I don't know. I guess I just really love playing, and so when you love it, you practice.
And I think I just really had fun out there. That's kind of like when I was younger, something I'm trying to bring back into my game now, is just to kind of enjoy it.
Yeah.
Q. Okay. Final question: Do you believe you can win tomorrow?
LUCY LI: I think anything can happen, right? It's golf.
Q. Can I ask you a few more questions?
LUCY LI: Sure.
Q. I want to pull up your scorecard here. You had 64 today; whole bunch of birdies; just the one bogey. I mean, you seemed to play well today. Tell me the story of your day.
LUCY LI: Yeah, I hit 17 greens and the one green I missed was two inches off the fringe. I think that was the main thing.
And then I was putting really well. That one bogey I had was a three-putt. It was just like really long. Other than that, I putted great. I hit it great. I chipped well.
So that's what you got to do when you shoot 64, right?
Q. Overall what's the experience been like so far? I know you played MEDIHEAL, but you've been primarily on Epson for the last two years.
LUCY LI: Yeah, I was really, really excited to play this week. You know, I've never -- I haven't played like overseas that much, like in this kind of a setting. It's always been a team event or something.
Being here without my family for the first time at an actual tournament has been a little bit different. I've really enjoyed it. I love the food here. It's just really hot. (Laughter.)
Q. It's crazy hot.
LUCY LI: Yeah.
Q. You were playing with A Lim and Lizette. Have you been able to pick brains, try to get advice of what life is like on tour at all?
LUCY LI: You know, when I'm out on the course I'm just trying to have a good time and not bother the other players too much.
But I have friends out on tour who are -- who have been really great, and I think you just have to -- I think no matter how much advice you get, you have to live it in order to learn.
So I think that's part of what I'm going through right now.
Q. So you're just a couple strokes off the lead heading into Sunday. What's the game plan going into tomorrow? There is a lot on the line.
LUCY LI: Just same thing I've been doing. Just got to hit one shot at a time and have a good time and try to stay cool.
