TPC Sawgrass
Quick Quotes
Q. Tell us about your day.
CAMERON SMITH: Yeah, it was pretty scrappy off the tee, to be honest. I holed a lot of good par putts and felt really good with the putter. Wish I had hit it enough on the green, I guess, on the last one to make one more.
Q. Where were you when you delay happened and what did you do in between while waiting for the break?
CAMERON SMITH: Just sat down with my mom and my sister and my girlfriend, and we just had some lunch and had a chat and didn't really do much. It was quite boring, to be honest.
It was good to get out this afternoon. It was good conditions, and like I said, would have been nice to have a couple more.
Q. Being a Jax Beach boy, do you play here much and does it help you when they play a championship here?
CAMERON SMITH: I don't know, I've found it hard in recent years, I guess, to really treat it like a tournament. I feel like I'm just coming out here just to practice. That's normally what I do. It's usually pretty cruisey around here, have a chat to the boys out the back on the greens keeping team and have a laugh at the boys back there, as well.
It's all fun and games most of the time. I find it hard to switch on, so I've made it a point this year to act as though I'm at a tournament.
Q. Why is that, just the realization it's a big event or?
CAMERON SMITH: Yeah, I guess my record here is not that great. I wanted to try and change that.
Q. Is it an advantage do you think being familiar with TPC Sawgrass that helps you?
CAMERON SMITH: Yeah, I think there are some things. There's some pins around here that you can be quite aggressive with that looks like you have to play away, and just little stuff like that. I mean, everyone here is the best in the world. We all prepare the same. To say I have an advantage is a really big call.
