Quick Quotes
Q. Chris, did you know it's up for grabs?
CHRIS KIRK: The Open Championship? I did not, no. No idea.
Q. Did that add anything to today?
CHRIS KIRK: No. I didn't really know where I stood most of the day. And I was just trying to kind of plug away and do the best I could. I hit -- I played holes 10 and 11 pretty much perfectly and hit great putts. I don't know what kind of camera angles they show, but you just -- 10 and 11, you can't really hit below the hole there. When you have a downhill putt on greens like this, you're at the mercy of who knows what it's going to do.
So I was glad after that. I birdied the next couple, making a bomb on 13. I still didn't really know -- I knew that that probably gave me somewhat of a chance if I kept playing good. Unfortunately, I didn't. I hit my first putt on 14 a little bit too hard and a bad swing off the tee on 15. It's pretty damn easy to make bogeys out here.
Q. Really good playing the last two weeks in unbelievably hard conditions. What's it take out of you, just the grind of this?
CHRIS KIRK: A lot. I'm actually going to fly home tonight for the day. I was thinking about having my kids not go to school, but I think they'll have to go to school so I can sleep a little bit during the day (laughter). Then I'll head back down to THE PLAYERS on Tuesday.
Hopefully, a couple of nights in my own bed will get me rested up a little bit and ready to go for next week.
