Quick Quotes
Q. Brittany, 4-under 68 in the final round of the Drive On Championship at Crown Colony. Brittany, you opened pretty strong: Five straight birdies between 2 and 6. Take us through the hot start. Got you out to the advantage, and just what was going through your mind at that point of how the day maybe you hoped progressed?
BRITTANY ALTOMARE: Yeah, I mean, I kind of literally could not have asked for a better start to my day. I was hitting the ball well and was seeing the putts really well. They were falling, which is nice.
But ultimately I just made too many mistakes coming in. I felt like I like made a lot of birdies but I couldn't eliminate some mistakes. I think that was kind of the deal.
Q. Did you feel at the beginning of the day that you were maybe a little too far back? At the start of the day specifically, before you even tee'd off.
BRITTANY ALTOMARE: Yeah, I mean, I definitely felt like I had to shoot a really low number because Marina Leona were so far ahead of everybody. So I was pleased with my start, but I felt like I had to keep my foot on the gas and I really didn't coming in, so...
Q. Once you got to 7, did how you approached the golf course or maybe approached things change a little bit just knowing that you had made such a leap and kind of changed the trajectory of everything?
BRITTANY ALTOMARE: Not really. Like I said, I wanted to keep my foot on the gas and just keep going because Marina Leona are two really good players. I knew that I had to go out and win it and not like wait for them to make mistakes.
So like I said, I just made 26 coming in, but made a lot birdies, so that's good.
Q. There are positives.
BRITTANY ALTOMARE: Yeah, a lot of positives to take away from this for sure.
Q. And one of those positives, just playing in the final group, being in contention.
BRITTANY ALTOMARE: Yeah.
Q. Seeing yourself at one point alone atop the leaderboard.
BRITTANY ALTOMARE: Yeah.
Q. How much motivation does that give you to get back to that kind of position, especially having done so already early in the year?
BRITTANY ALTOMARE: Yeah, I mean, actually this early in the year for me is kind of unusual, so it's really nice. Like usually it takes me a bit to warm up.
I practiced really hard this off-season and actually played a lot so that I would be ready to play when it came time to play in tournament golf, so I felt like did a good job of that. Looking forward to the rest of the season.
Q. What did you think of Crown Colony this week? Obviously there was no fans solicited to come out, but a lot of members, a lot of great volunteers; dining was great. What did you think of the week and just the LPGA being back in Fort Myers and hopefully back in the future?
BRITTANY ALTOMARE: Yeah, I mean, hopefully we come back here. I mean, we got great support from the local community here and the golf course is amazing. I mean, you could really feel that they wanted us here, and it was really special to be here and a treat, because you never know what you're going to get for a first-year event, and this was done beautifully.
So, yeah.
Q. What does your schedule look like moving forward? I know we've got a few weeks off before the Asian swing and then another week or two before getting back to our domestic schedule. What does your schedule look like in terms of travel, preparation for events, and maybe some down time?
BRITTANY ALTOMARE: Yeah, definitely going to take time to reflect on this week and what I need to do to improve.
But just practice hard the next three weeks and get ready for Asia. That's kind of really all that's on my mind right now.
