Quick Quotes
Q. All right here with now-clubhouse leader Stacy Lewis. Just take me through the second day.
STACY LEWIS: It was really good. I had a few shots I would like to hit over again, but got off to a really good start this morning. And really birdieing -- I birdied 8 and 9 yesterday finishing out my round, and just kind of kept that momentum going.
Made some birdies early. Got tough there on the back nine with the wind kind of playing I think some of the hardest holes on the golf course with the most amount of wind we had today, but just really, really happy with the way I played.
Kind of just keep building off the way I played last week.
Q. After making the turn you birdied three of the next four holes. What is it about that stretch? You talked about it is a little bit more difficult. Does the wind sometimes help on those couple holes?
STACY LEWIS: Yeah, you've got the stretch kind of -- when you start on the front nine you've got 8 through about, what is it, about 13 where you got some shorter holes, some par-5s. You're going to have wedges in your hand. I think that's where you can make a move on this golf course.
14, 15, 16 is just a really hard stretch. Then you got another opportunity there on 17 and 18. So just kind of take what the course gives you. You know, know that you're probably going to make a bogey or two here and there. Just keep trying to making as many birdies as you can.
Q. First event you finished with a Top 10; coming off a top 20 finish last week. How comfortable are you feeling in your game? It's the third event in a row and a lot of people are starting to feel that tiredness, but you're not showing and of that.
STACY LEWIS: I don't know. I mean, we fight to get through every day at our house with a three year old. I don't know. I don't know. I just -- Joe and I went to work in December. I just wanted to start hitting the golf ball better. Really the last I would say three years I just -- even before I had Chesnee I probably wasn't hitting it very good and really just wanted to get the golf swing in a better spot, and so that is why I really didn't take much time off, and that's showing, getting its body turning and moving better, and just happy with the results.
Q. How satisfied are you in your game at the moment -- reflecting on last couple years? Like you said, you wanted to hit the ball better. Where you are at this stage, do you feel as you're getting to where you want to be?
STACY LEWIS: Yes. Seeing your name on a leaderboard, being in those last couple groups. I told my caddie last week, Wow, it's been a while since we've been in this those last few groups.
It's where you want to be. You want to give yourself a chance to win on Sunday but Saturday this week, and that's been my goal from day one, just giving myself opportunities to win.
So just really, really happy with the week so far. Looking forward one more day.
Q. What will it take tomorrow do you think to be able to stay atop the leaderboard?
STACY LEWIS: I don't know. I think the wind is supposed to switch directions on us so we're going to see a completely different golf course tomorrow, which could be to my advantage.
I need the golf course to play a little tougher where you have to think a little bit. If these girls can just bomb it on me and there is no elements, you know, I probably don't stand a chance.
But if we have to think tomorrow, I like my chances.
Q. You birdied 18. How big was that? I guess take us through the hole.
STACY LEWIS: Yeah, it was big. Bogeyed 16; had a pretty good look on 17 and didn't make it.
So coming there, I mean, I hit a great second shot. About 245 to the front edge and just ripped a 3-wood as hard as I could and got it up there for an easy two-putt.
It is just really big. Makes dinner taste a little better. Just makes this afternoon a lot better. But, I mean, you have to take advantage of those downwind par-5s. I need to do that tomorrow, too.
