KRAWIETZ-MIES/Krajicek-Querrey
6-4, 6-7, 6-4
THE MODERATOR: What a thrilling match. Please take us through your match today.
ANDREAS MIES: Yeah, it was a great match today overall. I thought really high level. It was tough conditions because it's really fast, really fast courts. The opponents were not easy to play. Querrey has such a big serve, not easy to break him. Austin Krajicek has a tricky lefty serve so it was tough for us to return, but I still thought we had a lot of break chances.
I think we could have closed it out in two sets. I think if we make the break early on in the second set, we cruise kind of through the match. I thought we played really well overall.
Unfortunately lost the breaker, and then it's really anyone's game. In the end we stayed tough. I saved a breakpoint at 3-all I think on my serve, hit a good serve, which helped, and yeah, really relieved that we came through that match. It was not easy today.
Q. Third round you play Peers and Polasek, the fifth seeds. What are your expectations looking ahead?
KEVIN KRAWIETZ: Yeah, not easy, the draw, of course. In Sydney they won the tournament so they're in good shape. They played the last couple of months also together.
Of course Polasek won last year here in Australia. But I think as we served, as we have played also the games today, we were pretty strong in our service game so we'll try to put it in the next match, as well, and try to get some chances on the return.
