Press Conference
S. TSITSIPAS/J. Sinner
6-3, 6-4, 6-2
THE MODERATOR: Bad luck, Jannik. What was more difficult for you in Stefanos' game tonight?
JANNIK SINNER: I think he played better than me today. He served better. He moved the ball better than me. He was moving better than me. It's tough to play against him when especially he plays like this. I couldn't generate the power what I would have wanted.
I was trying to move him, but I was maybe a little bit too far back because he played incredible today. So I think that's it.
THE MODERATOR: Questions?
Q. How do you assess the tournament overall? Clearly a difficult defeat today, but you make a run to the quarterfinals, is it a balance in terms of trying to find positive out of it?
JANNIK SINNER: Of course it's a positive tournament. I think that what I have to improve is I have to improve the tennis in general. I have to serve better, I have to do everything more, especially when you play against the top guys.
My goal is to play many matches like this, important matches against the best guys in the world, and then we see and then I grow.
Yeah, I think it was, especially for me here in Australia, was good. I played matches, and I made experience. Let's see next year what I do here.
Q. Wondered what your plans were next? Do you feel this is positive for you to build on for the rest of the season?
JANNIK SINNER: Of course positive, because I played the last tournament in Davis Cup last year. I played well there. I started well also the year here. Taking some time off and being ready back in the next tournaments, trying to be ready there, and then we see.
I think I can go back with a positive mindset, knowing that I have to improve many, many things. So there is a lot of work.
Q. With Stefanos, how difficult is it to force him off his forehand when he's serving so well and with such precision? I think the one-two punch was something like 90% tonight after his first serve. Is it hard to find that backhand straightaway?
JANNIK SINNER: Yeah, for me today, yes, because he moved well, he played the ball very early, so I didn't had any chance. Especially he was serving well, so returning his serves was not easy.
But it's also my return games were not that good, especially when he had second serves, or I played very short or I missed.
But this is why he didn't played so many second serves. I didn't had the chance, and I tried somehow to step a little bit closer, tried to open the court, but today it was tough. I know what I have to improve many, many things, and this, for me today, it was a lesson.
