Quick Quotes
Q. Matt, another bogey-free round today. Only four shots back. Tell me about the day and the spot you're in.
MATT KUCHAR: Yeah, steady day. I found myself in a little bit more trouble than I was yesterday, the first two days.
But able to kind of survive. Hit some quality shots, some good recovery shots. Certainly a couple places I hit into some bad bunkers, kind of short-sided bunkers, but thankfully hit really good shots, was able to save par on a few of those holes.
But still feel good about what I'm doing and feel like there is room for improvement as well, and hopefully tomorrow I get some of that improvement.
Q. You mentioned you led the field in scrambling today. I know that's not usually a stat you want to lead the field in, but just talk about how you were able to get up and down out of those bunkers?
MATT KUCHAR: I think it was lucky due to some soft greens. I think had greens been firm, had wind been maybe working in a different direction, few of those bunker shots would've been nearly impossible. Conditions the way they were I was able to hit some good shots and save par.
That was lucky. I hope not to be in too many of those situations tomorrow.
Q. You got a lot of experience out here and on tour. How do you lean into that going into tomorrow four shots back?
MATT KUCHAR: Listen, Russell is playing great; you got Hideki Matsuyama right there. You can count on him playing quality golf as well.
I know it's going to take a low number for me tomorrow. I would love to be able to tell you I'm just going go out and do it. If it were that easy I would try to do it every day.
I think this course you've got to take what it gives you. If you find the fairway you can be aggressive; if not, you're trying to make some pars.
I'm going to try to hit the first fairway, hit if close if I hit the first fairway, and go from there.
