Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
Team France
Press Conference
THE MODERATOR: Welcome to Team France, which is a late addition to the ATP Cup this year, replacing Austria. We would like to check with the captain, how you found out and how you got the group together and organized everything.
NICOLAS COPIN: It was a little bit difficult because we were on the plane from Dubai to Melbourne. Arriving in Melbourne, we got in, so we had to change the plane and finally come to Sydney. But it was okay.
Q. (Question off microphone.)
UGO HUMBERT: It was unexpected, but I was very happy when I knew that we can play this event. I'm super happy to be with these guys. It's nice to play a team competition just before the Australian Open. It's great.
Q. (Question off microphone.)
UGO HUMBERT: Yes. I saw the last editions of the ATP Cup, and I really like the atmosphere of the competition.
Q. (Question off microphone.)
ARTHUR RINDERKNECH: Yeah, of course it's great. I was lucky to play already the Davis Cup in November, so now I'm lucky again to play the ATP Cup, so, yeah, like Ugo said, with a bunch of great guys. It's really cool, and I hope we'll do great.
Q. Doubles is a big thing at this event and often it comes down to the doubles. How exciting is that for you for the stage that you might be on?
FABRICE MARTIN: No, yeah, of course when I heard the news, I was very happy, and we all got in touch. It was very exciting. First time for me representing France, so I'm really looking forward to it, to be with these guys, and hopefully we will have a great time. And, yeah, from watching the past years, it looked like an amazing event, so really looking forward to it.
Q. I know it's been a little bit since you have been able to play, so how nice is it for your first event back to be part of this again?
EDOUARD ROGER-VASSELIN: Yeah, it's for sure really nice. It was unexpected. But, yeah, right now to be with these guys representing France, I know I have been out for a long time, but, yeah, I'm ready, and ready to play. I know it's a different world between practice and match, so we will see how it goes. But definitely super excited to play here, to represent France, and to be with these guys on the court.
Q. I know they were on the plane. Where were you when you found out?
ARTHUR RINDERKNECH: I was actually with Seb, my coach, in Adelaide. Actually we were flying to Adelaide from Melbourne, and I heard there might be a chance, but then the next morning it got confirmed, and then unfortunately Benoit was positive, so I jumped in at the second spot. And, yeah, so then I made my way here the very next day to get ready.
