THE MODERATOR: Liam, first question to you. You must be really proud of a great performance from the team tonight.
LIAM BROADY: Yeah, I thought the boys were absolutely brilliant. Yeah, I thought we were pretty hard done by after the loss in Davis Cup. I thought we were really good value for that match and, I mean, we deserved to win it, so I'm glad that we put it right this time.
The energy in the doubles on the bench and on court was brilliant and we'll look to do it again in a few days' time.
Q. Dan, you must be pretty pleased with both the wins and the team overall win?
DANIEL EVANS: Yeah, just the team win is most important. Yeah, we all did our job today. Cam played a great match. He was a little unlucky and then got back out on the court and was, as always, getting fired up and that's what we all agree before any team event that's what we'll do for each other.
Joe didn't get out there but he did exactly the same, and we really, we were not lucky to come through, but we got through and we're really proud to come through that, yeah.
Q. Cam, obviously a tough one for the first match of the year, but how fun was it to be part of the whole experience with the guys?
CAMERON NORRIE: Yeah, for sure. I mean, really enjoyed it. It was great coming out there. And, yeah, Sascha was too good for me today.
But, no, it was a lot of fun on the bench there. Some good comments, and really enjoyed it throughout and great doubles at the end there, great display of tennis, and these boys definitely showed their skill.
So I was happy to be a part of it. It was just nice to get some quick revenge, especially after losing to them in Davis Cup not long ago.
Q. Jamie, obviously all the pressure going into the doubles, how happy were you with how you guys played?
JAMIE MURRAY: Yeah, really happy. I think we played a great match from start to finish, and we came on the court with a great energy, fighting for every point. The guys on the bench were cheering their arses off, basically, first point to last, and that helps us.
And I think we're all in it together and I think that's why we've done well in team events over the last sort of five, 10 years. We're right behind each player. Whoever goes out there on the court, we give our all on the court or on the bench and it's always a lot of fun for us.
Like the guys said, like, it's once or twice a year we get to play the team events and for us like a lot of this stuff this is what we'll remember when we finish playing, I think, these sort of team environments and the kind of friendships we have with the guys that we're a close team, and I think it shows in how we support each other and how we compete together as a team.
Q. Dan, can I ask you, first of all, just talk about the challenges and playing so soon after the Davis Cup. I mean, it's barely a month passed by. Just how tough is it not only have you got to get a period of rest, you got to prepare for the new season, and then you're straight into it with this team event in the new year.
DANIEL EVANS: I think it makes it a lot easier that it's a team event the first event. It's very serious, but we have a lot of fun away from the court and on the court.
So I didn't get much of a chance to get any work in really. I just carried on from last year, continued, had a little rest, and just got back playing a little. Not massive pre-season, so to speak, so I'm going to do that after Australia and have a few weeks to work on myself after that. So it's definitely challenging but that's the calendar and that's what we're out here to do.
Q. Cam, it was mentioned in television commentary that you had COVID over the festive period. Were there any difficulties with not being able to train because of that?
CAMERON NORRIE: Yeah, I had COVID, but it was, I had no symptoms, which I was very fortunate. Yeah, it was unfortunate I couldn't get out on the court and play, but I was, I had had a long season anyway, played a lot of matches, so it wasn't the worst thing in the world for me.
So obviously just lost a week there, but, yeah, it is what it is and, yeah, I actually did a little bit of fitness throughout that period and I stayed healthy and it wasn't the worst thing in the world, but, yeah.
Q. Liam, just what's it like to have this sort of unique experience of being a team captain?
LIAM BROADY: Yeah, it's very different to anything I've done before. I've done a few coaching lessons here and there in my life and obviously played a fair few match, but I've never been the captain for a team event, so that was a new experience.
Today obviously I was pretty nervous at the start as I've pointed out. But I came into my own. (Laughing).
It's not easy and I think sometimes some players can be pretty difficult when they're on the court, but these guys are all fantastic and very easy to be around and pretty relaxed actually when they're on court competing. So they make my job easy and actually pretty enjoyable.
