Adelaide, South Australia, Australia
Press Conference
THE MODERATOR: John, how do you feel coming into the 2022 start of the season? How do you feel about starting your campaign here in Adelaide?
JOHN MILLMAN: It's always great to kick things off in Australia. I have really good memories of Adelaide. Last time we were here, managed to play a couple of Davis Cup ties, which was awesome.
To be honest with you, the 2022 season feels a lot like the 2021. It feels like just a continuation of that with such a small off-season for me.
Q. Have you seen the draw?
JOHN MILLMAN: Yeah, obviously playing against another Australian, Thanasi Kokkinakis. I think he plays really well in Australia. We know when he's on his game, when his body is good, mentally and physically he's fit, he can play really a high level of tennis.
I think he appreciates playing at home in Australia. We saw how well he went at the Australian Open last year, really taking it to Tsitsipas, one of the best players in the game currently.
I think it's a tough test against Thanasi. The first match of the year is always a little bit tricky. You're always trying to find that sharpness, find your game. Hopefully I can find my feet as early as possible in that one.
Q. Your fitness at the moment?
JOHN MILLMAN: Yeah, look, managing your body's always a bit of a battle the older you get. I've figured that out. I've got some back and hip stuff that I kind of just have to kind of manage throughout the season.
Yeah, I'm still trying to manage that. But hopefully I'll be good to go.
