Quick Quotes
Q. Just talking about it, you got in Monday night, a whole different style of golf. You're coming off quite a bit high last week at the Open de EspaƱa. Take us through that week, win everything possible on the LET and fly to Q-Series.
ATTHAYA THITIKUL: It's been a really amazing year for me. First year out, won the LET Players' Player, and then Costa del Sol as well. Last year I worked really hard, as well, to get through this, and just like being success in LET right now and then just keep focusing on this week to get my LPGA card next year.
Q. How confident are you? Again you had quite a breakout season. You're pretty young, still 18, now you're 18th in the world. You've got to bring a lot of confidence into an event like this.
ATTHAYA THITIKUL: I mean, I just like -- I just want to do this week seem like every week that I play on the LET, as well, just focusing on my game. I wouldn't say -- I would say everything can happen in any week because the future and it's golf as well and just keep focusing and just trying my best out there.
Q. You're Thai, correct?
ATTHAYA THITIKUL: Yes.
Q. It's been quite a year for Thai female golf, Patty Tavatanakit winning the Chevron Championship. What would it mean to add your name to that list of really talented players from Thailand on the LPGA Tour?
ATTHAYA THITIKUL: I think it's really mean a lot to us, like all the Thai players here. I really proud of the Thai players. We're getting bigger, better every week, every year. It's been like -- I think it's really good if I can be out there on the list, as well, to be players that represent our country in the biggest stage.
Q. Walk us through your year. Playing on the LET you've kicked butt and taken names. You've played really well. What's this year meant to you as a player to come out and in your first year kind of world beat and just absolutely tear it up out on the LET?
ATTHAYA THITIKUL: I mean, it's been a really great year for me, and then I feel really scared to be out -- like this is my first year on the LET, far away from home, and didn't have like lots of experience that much.
But I'm glad that I can keep learning and keep working on my game to be better.
Q. Breaking into the top 20 in the world at 18 years old, that's something that's almost unheard of. Again, what does that mean to you? That's such a crazy accomplishment to have in your first year.
ATTHAYA THITIKUL: Yeah, everyone says, oh, it's really good. It's really amazing that I can break top 20 in the world. But I just -- it means to me but not like everything to me. Just like means something because like we don't care about the ranking, we don't really care about my position. We care about my game.
Then you have something to improve. You have something to do outside of like being No. 1, being No. 2, 3, 4, 5.
Q. Again talking about this, you were here Monday night late. You played two rounds back-to-back. What's your energy level like coming into two weeks of straight grind?
ATTHAYA THITIKUL: I'm kind of tired now. I'm kind of tired. We get a little off time and a bit of jet lag. But it's getting better now, I guess. But the course and everything was fine and was in good conditions, and hopefully I can get this week hopefully better -- it's a good week for me.
Q. LET I would imagine doesn't play on a lot of Bermuda. Do you have a lot of experience on Bermudagrass?
ATTHAYA THITIKUL: Trying to learn. It's a different grass from the States than Europe, so kind of learning States because I haven't played here quite a lot, but hopefully I'll learn and getting better here.
Q. What are some of your goals for this week? Obviously there's one ultimate goal, but what are some of your personal goals the next two weeks in Alabama?
ATTHAYA THITIKUL: I would say I just like -- you know, focus on my game and trying to be calm out there and then focus on what I can do and try my best out there. I mean, like if I can get it, it's great, but if not, it's okay, I know I have a lot of chances to get it.
