Magnolia Grove
Quick Quotes
Q. So being out here at Magnolia Grove, what are some of the feelings? Just saw you coming off the golf course. What are you thinking so far?
EMILY KRISTINE PEDERSEN: It's good. I think the course is playing quite long. That kind of plays a little bit into my liking because I'm hitting it quite far.
But it's definitely some good golf that needs to be played over these -- this week and probably next week as well.
Q. Being a Ladies European Tour stalwart, your name is quite popular on that side of the water. What's it like coming over here trying to get your LPGA Tour card?
EMILY KRISTINE PEDERSEN: I had my rookie season in '17 so I played '171'18 pretty much full time and then half of '19 on the LPGA, so obviously I know the lifestyle. I've played a lot of the majors the last couple years, so it's obviously something I want to do really bad.
I feel like I'm a better player now than I was the last time I was in the LPGA, so the goal is definitely to get back there.
Q. Having that time away, and I followed your (indiscernible) season. I mean, girl, holy crap. You went off. How does having some good play on the LET under your belt make you feel a little bit more comfortable, like, Hey, I got this, I can get back to the LPGA no problem?
EMILY KRISTINE PEDERSEN: It's definitely given me some confidence. Winning three times in a row I think is hard on any tour, so it's definitely given me confidence.
Also played good at the Olympics this year, played decent at U.S. Open, Evian Championship, at the Scottish as well.
So it's definitely boosting up my game, and I would just love to play out on the LPGA every day.
Q. Pretty easy qualification. I know there was a lot of captain's picks for the Solheim Cup team this year, but what did that experience mean to you at Inverness to win?
EMILY KRISTINE PEDERSEN: Oh, it was amazing to win on U.S. soil, and just holed a lot of good putts under pressure there, which also helped me build up the confidence.
It's amazing to play for Europe and something bigger than yourself, so obviously that's a great experience that I hold very dearly to me.
Q. Speaking of, had a big announcement for Team Europe yesterday with Suzann Petersen being a captain in 2023. Suzann has meant everything to the Euros over the past few years. How excited are you to see that captaincy?
EMILY KRISTINE PEDERSEN: Oh, she's the one I've look up to my whole career. She's the one that's been my kind of idol in golf since I started, so it's amazing. I've gotten to know her over the last few years and I think she's great.
She's going to bring so much to Team Europe, and I'll do everything it my power to play under her as captain.
I think she's the right one. Like there is no one else than her that would be suited for this next Solheim Cup I think.
Q. In the team room this year as a vice captain, what did she kind of bring to Team Europe?
EMILY KRISTINE PEDERSEN: She just brings a lot of fire, a lot of attitude, and she has got a lot of humor. She has obviously got a lot of experience playing Solheim Cups and winning tournaments, so she's got a lot of respect from everyone in Europe really, and I think in America as well.
You can see that all the American players respect her as much as we do, so she just -- she is just really a rock for all of us, and I think she is great.
Q. Coming back to this week, obviously -- did you play in the last event?
EMILY KRISTINE PEDERSEN: No, I didn't.
Q. What's it like transitioning from -- I feel like the LET plays a different style of golf, plays a lot of different styles of golf in kind of a spread out schedule, and coming over here and having to adjust to Alabama, which is a little atypical for what the LPGA Tour usually plays.
EMILY KRISTINE PEDERSEN: Yeah, I know, and it's definitely more grainy greens, more grainy areas that we don't really have a lot of bermuda grass in Europe, especially with the short game, getting used to that.
It's a little bit more cold than what we play on the LPGA as well. So it's both -- luckily it's been cold at home for the last two, three months, so this is actually warm for me so that's quite nice.
Q. What are you most looking forward to this week? There is a pretty decent contingency of LET players in the field, which I'm sure is kind of fun for you guys.
EMILY KRISTINE PEDERSEN: Yeah, there are a lot of great players here. Hopefully I'm able to go out and do my thing and then walk on Christmas break with an LPGA card in my hand. That's the only goal this week, is just to get the card.
