THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.
Q. Lleyton just came in here and said all three matches could have gone either way. What is your reaction to the way the tie went?
GABOR KOVES: Whenever all the matches are all third set, what can you say? Obviously, yes, they could have gone the other way.
It was an unbelievable tie. We gave everything what we had. This guy, the second guy down, he had a huge heart (referring to Zsombor). John was physically in better shape for a long, long time in the match. He pulled through in the second set. Then he had more chances in the third. He pulled it off 6-3, I think, in the third.
You're up 1-0. Which you have a guy like Marton for the second singles at No. 1, we had a chance to close the match out. Obviously Australia had a guy almost like Marton, just like this much better. It was a really close one. Had a chance to win it. This is tennis.
Whoever saw the match, especially the second singles, I think that was really high-level, high-quality tennis, unbelievable fight. This is what all I can ask for, all the other captains can ask for, when the players give it all.
In the doubles we had two unexperienced guys. I asked them to play their best, play a little more risk. They haven't played much together at all. We got to the third set, they really didn't have much of a chance to win the match, but I'm really proud of them.
Q. You face Croatia tomorrow. Have you had any thoughts about how you might tackle that?
GABOR KOVES: Well, I don't have really too many options. Our normal No. 2 guy, Attila Balazs, is not available. He's here, on the team, but he's not going to be able to play.
I can go possibly the same guys. If Marton is fit, he can go for the dubs, we'll see. It's going to be an uphill battle.
For tomorrow, if we would have had an extra day off, we would go in the two singles I think 50/50. Zsombor won today. He's going to play against 250 in the world, something like that, around his ranking. If Borna Gojo plays, it's a different style, like a different style from Millman. He's going to have a chance. Also Marton against Cilic is going to have a chance, but obviously it's a 50/50 match.
It's going to be tough after a three-hour battle today to play again with the same intensity, the same way. But I guess in the singles we have to pull it off because the Croatians have an unbelievable doubles team.
