THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.
Q. What are your thoughts?
JOHN MILLMAN: Look, pretty poor match by me. Opponent got a bit of momentum. He played well. I was bad.
Q. Did you know anything about him going into the match?
JOHN MILLMAN: Yeah, look, he's had good Davis Cup performances before. I think he got Vesely in five, former world No. 1 junior. Obviously had some ability, for sure. Came off a bit of form on the challengers. I did my homework.
Yeah, just wasn't a good performance from me today.
Q. The other day Alexei was saying when he lost, that one really hurt. I would assume it's pretty much the same for you?
JOHN MILLMAN: Yeah, whenever you play for your country in Davis Cup, the losses hurt a fair bit purely because you're playing for probably a bit more than yourself. Yeah, today's loss is no different.
Q. I don't want to help make excuses for you, but we understand particularly for the Australian guys, it's been a long season. Has that had any bearing on the struggles?
JOHN MILLMAN: Yeah, look, when you step on the court for Davis Cup, there are no excuses. Regardless of how you're feeling, you got to find a little more than what I did today.
Yeah, the tank's pretty empty mentally and physically if I'm to be honest with you. It's nearly 11 months now away. Unfortunately with this format and the competition the way it is now, Australians can't really travel so you can't really get that lift from the crowd and that.
Yeah, the tank's empty mentally and physically.
