Q. Talk to us a bit about the match today.

GERALD MELZER: Sorry?

Q. It was a brilliant match. Talk to us about the match even though it didn't go your way.

GERALD MELZER: Well, yeah, pretty painful because I think at some point I gave it away pretty cheap. I missed two returns on the two breakpoints in the first set. Then in the tiebreak, I mean, he came up with the pretty good shots, especially the one on 3-2, the dropshot.

Yeah, I felt like I was the better player, so it was painful to lose the first set. I came back in the second. Also in the third I think I had my chances to even go up a break. Being a break down, coming back...

Yeah, there were a few points. It was just a few points. Yeah, it's painful.

Q. You were out for two years due to an injury. Did you ever think you would play for your country again in Davis Cup?

GERALD MELZER: No. I mean, it was almost three years. When it happened, it was summer 2018. There were moments when I didn't believe anymore I will ever be on the Davis Cup team. Unfortunately for some other guys, due to injuries, I was able to be back on the team.

If you would have asked me this summer or this spring if I will ever play Davis Cup again, I would have said no.

Yeah, it's nice to be back on the Davis Cup team. The stronger feeling today is that I lost 7-5 in the third, so yeah.
