Jumeirah Golf Estates
Quick Quotes
Q. First two round at Jumeirah Golf Estates, you must be pretty pleased with how things have gone out there.
JOHN CATLIN: Yeah, definitely. Very, very pleased to get off to a good start here. This is a very challenging golf course. Every single shot has to be executed almost -- almost to perfection. And you know, it was nice to hit a lot of really, really good shots.
Made a few putts there early on on the back nine, 10, 11 and 12 to kind of jump-start my round, and just kind of kept on going from there.
Q. The three birdies were important on three of the toughest holes on this golf course, not many people birdieing those. Must be encouraging?
JOHN CATLIN: Yeah, for sure. Especially like 12. 12 is driver, 5-iron. 10 was tricky where the pin was. I think I ended up kind of on the left-hand side in some mulch and an uneven lie and it was nice to hit one to about 12, 15 feet.
Q. What changed between the two nines today?
JOHN CATLIN: Not much. I just need to see the putts go in. I played pretty solid on the front nine. Missed a few opportunities but I would say I played pretty solidly. Seeing those putts go in gives you a lot of confidence.
Q. When you go into a tournament with the Top-50 players in The Race to Dubai, obviously you have experience of winning tournaments, three-time European Tour winner, does that give you a lot of confidence that you know that you can mix it with these guys?
JOHN CATLIN: Yeah, it's definitely nice to be able to look yourself in the mirror and say: I've been here before and I can do it again. That kind of kept me steady here on the back nine. We've got two more rounds to go, and hopefully I can stay confident and keep hitting good golf shots.
Q. What would it mean to win this?
JOHN CATLIN: This is probably the biggest event we have out here, and you know, so to win that, something, truly, truly special.
