Quick Quotes
Q. Viera, thank you so much for joining us. 4-under here in the first round of the Women's Amateur Asia-Pacific. Are you happy with your performance today?
VIERA PERMATA ROSADA: It's actually the best round of my life because my previous one was a 69. So, I'm really happy with it.
Q. Tell me, when you were lining up for that fourth birdie, was that in the back of your mind that a 68 would be the best?
VIERA PERMATA ROSADA: Yes, it was. The last hole, I was like taking a lot of deep breaths. Thinking just play your game. Just hit the fairway, hit the green.
Q. Talk to us about the round. Talk to us about the birdies. What holes were they on?
VIERA PERMATA ROSADA: I got three birdies in a row on my first three holes. It was actually crazy.
My 1st hole, I duffed my second shot into the bunker, but then I holed it, and I was thinking, oh, cool. Then the 2nd hole, I made the putt for birdie. Then 3rd hole I made the putt again. Those were long putts. I was thinking wow.
Q. So the hole-out from the bunker, what was the celebration like there for you?
VIERA PERMATA ROSADA: I didn't even know it went in. I just hit it, and I was thinking, oh, okay. Then I raked it, and my playing partner said, oh, it's in. I'm thought, oh, cool.
Q. So 4-under and you're only two shots back of the lead. Are you excited with your opening day's play?
VIERA PERMATA ROSADA: Yes, I was very, very excited. I just want to keep playing my game because I know that I was nervous this morning. I didn't get a lot of sleep. But I just don't want to get that in my head and just play like I know how to play.
Q. Talk to us about your form coming into this championship. Where have you been playing your golf and how have you been going?
VIERA PERMATA ROSADA: Honestly, I haven't been playing so well this semester in college golf. I think my scoring average is like 75.8 or something. I just haven't been playing the best game.
So coming into this tournament, I really had no expectations. I just want to hit my marks, and make sure that 'm hitting the target. That's all I had in mind. I didn't have any expectations.
Q. You said that you were nervous this morning. Obviously, the Women's Amateur Asia-Pacific is a really big championship. How important is that to you as a player coming here to play?
VIERA PERMATA ROSADA: It's huge, especially since I didn't have the best semester for my college. I just wanted to get out here and just play and make myself feel better about my game. So that was the goal too.
