October 29, 2021
Sharjah, United Arab Emirates
Sharjah Stadium
Sri Lanka
Pre Match Media Conference
Q. You mentioned that Dubai wicket was just too good for you guys in the previous match, and you also said that obviously when batting first in those conditions your batsmen need to last a little bit longer, you need to play out the first 10, 15 overs, get used to the wicket and finish with a bang towards the end. What do you expect from this wicket tomorrow, and do you think it might be easier to chase?
DASUN SHANAKA: You know, the Sharjah wicket is always two-paced, so even in the last game West Indies and Bangladesh we saw that ball is going up and down. After that I feel it's been always two-paced.
Chasing is somewhat easier because we can assess the conditions very well, so it doesn't matter actually, we can go either way.
Q. The last time you played in Sharjah you chased a massive total from Bangladesh. What are your thoughts ahead of tomorrow's game against South Africa here?
DASUN SHANAKA: Yeah, actually wicket is playing a big role when it comes to tomorrow's game. The wicket has been used in the IPL the last few games in Sharjah. To be honest we have to assess the conditions first. Hopefully playing two games there have a favour in our side so we can read the wickets really well, so I feel we are slightly ahead of South Africa team.
