Atlanta Braves
Pregame 6 Press Conference
Q. At what point in time did you know that Scherzer would not go today and is that just something that you deal with at this time of year and in preparation?
BRIAN SNITKER: Yeah. No, we found out last night. You know what, they were prepared to face one or both the next two days, so like I say, it's not that big a deal.
Q. Driving in, Battery's starting to get filled, packed, Braves fans everywhere. Can you sense the excitement and the buzz in this city, in this place right now?
BRIAN SNITKER: Yeah. No, I've seen, I don't know, what are they, Instagrams and stuff like that, of the Battery, you know, when we're playing in L.A., and I know, it's going to be exciting, fun.
Q. How prepared do you feel Ian Anderson is for this start tonight?
BRIAN SNITKER: I think very, very much so. He's been through this now a few times in his brief career and so he's prepared for these games before of this magnitude so I think he'll be ready to go.
Q. We saw how effective that changeup was against the Brewers and then maybe not as much against the Dodgers, but instead of saying that changeup has to be effective, is it more just strike one, getting ahead?
BRIAN SNITKER: Strike one, curve ball's got to play a part, didn't much the last start. So hopefully, just I told him, it's okay. It's one of, it's still a baseball game and sometimes it doesn't work out the way you want and you don't have your good stuff, and hopefully he comes out today and like he did two starts ago, has everything going from the beginning and using his curve ball good as well as the changeup and, because he's got the weapons to be very effective.
Q. You were just talking about how you tell Ian sometimes you don't have your best stuff when you go out there. How good do you think he is at scrapping some of those outings and moving on to the next?
BRIAN SNITKER: Very good. I think he's a very mature kid. In his young career he's shown me a lot of maturity, ability to turn the page just like this team has done all year, and so I got every confidence in the world in him today.
Q. It's not Troy's first trip, but what was that like to see last night?
BRIAN SNITKER: That was neat. Proud of him. Got to FaceTime with him. Watched the celebration. Like I say, very proud of him to -- I told him the first time, it's not this easy, you know, it's really hard to get there, as we're seeing. But it's been a great experience for him and I'm happy for him. I said, I hope I can join you.
