NL DIVISION SERIES: BREWERS VS BRAVES

October 11, 2021

Freddy Peralta

Omar Narváez

Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Truist Park

Milwaukee Brewers

Postgame 3 Press Conference

Braves - 3, Brewers - 0

Q. Freddy, there were some tense moments in the first four innings of that game. How do you think you pitched today?

FREDDY PERALTA: I was feeling really good. And I was hitting my spots, too. There was some contact early. But I was in my control. So, Omar was doing a very good job behind home plate, too. And everything was fine for me.

Q. Freddy, was it tough coming out? I know you understand the situation, you need offense there. But with the way you were pitching was it hard to be pulled out of the game at that point?

FREDDY PERALTA: Yeah, so I want to keep pitching in the game. But in that situation, I have to understand that we have the opportunity to score some runs in that moment. We were like second and third with only one out. And we see the opportunity to score a run, and that's why they take me out of the game.

Q. Omar, how frustrating is it for the offense now in that one inning? Lorenzo hit that ball right on the nose and the shortstop makes a diving play. And then Wong hits a line drive right at the first baseman. How frustrating is it getting now?

OMAR NARVAEZ: It really is, because I feel like we got men on bases almost every inning. And we're not having the singles to score some runs. So hopefully everything changes tomorrow. And we'll be able to come back and make it even and go home even.

Q. Omar, does it make it more frustrating considering how well Freddy and the rest of the pitchers have pitched for you guys in the series?

OMAR NARVAEZ: Yeah, I feel like every pitcher is locked in and doing a very good job. We've just got to do better at offense.

Q. Omar, Ian Anderson has a good change-up. What was making it especially effective today?

OMAR NARVAEZ: I feel like he was almost executing up and in to lefties. He was also executing down and away to lefties. We've got to pick and choose which one we're going to get. So he was pretty good today.

Q. Omar, if you go back and look at that pitch that Pederson hit, it was high, up out of the strike zone. Were you surprised he could get to that pitch and hit a home run?

OMAR NARVAEZ: Sometimes you've got to give credit to the hitter. It was a really good swing by him. I saw the pitch and it was well located. He just put a good swing on it.

Q. For either of you, how big was that double play? And, Omar, did you know right away that you had that out at second base before they scored?

OMAR NARVAEZ: Yeah, once I saw the fly ball, I saw the guy on third tagging. And my first thought was go to second and keep the force out in order. When I saw the pretty good throw, I kept watching the runner. I kind of saw both of them. Once I saw the out I started yelling he didn't score. So pretty good deal by Yelich and Kolten.

Q. Freddy, you've seen Lorenzo Cain give his body up so much for the team, running into the fences. He did it again today almost made an incredible catch. Just what can you say about the effort he gives out there in center?

FREDDY PERALTA: Didn't surprise me because he does that all the time. Doesn't matter in what game we play in, because every game is important. But he's always trying to catch the ball no matter how far it is.

And for one moment I thought he caught it. But it was a little dangerous, too, for him. But he always is hustling and trying to catch a ball. Great for him.

Q. Your team has played in front for a long time now in the division. What can you say about the situation that the team is in now with one more loss would do it?

OMAR NARVAEZ: I think we've just got to keep it down and come down and just play the game. At the end of the day, it's baseball. You never know what's going to happen. So just going to go 100 percent tomorrow and try to win the ball game again.
