Quick Quotes
Q. Danny, the big tournament, the big marquee tournament, and here you are adding to your résumé. How do you feel?
DANNY WILLETT: It's been a good week. Great partner in Jimmy. We've been along all week. Things have been good. The results haven't really been there, but, you know, deep down inside things are pretty close.
And I've always said if I get a bit of a sniff, I'm usually all right. And today was a nice example of that. Scoring was pretty low on that front nine, and we're able to do to fend off a few guys and play real solid on the back.
Q. I was going to say Richard Bland was one of the handful of guys who were trying to chase you down. How aware were you of the movement on the top of that leaderboard?
DANNY WILLETT: Only the lads in front. Not many scoreboards this year. So only the lads in front know that Blandy was close and could kind of see what they were doing.
And then it was a surprise when we looked on 17, I saw that Joakim was -- obviously the score he was with the chance to go 17 on the last. So, yeah, whether that's a good thing or a bad thing, I don't know. And I think me and Jimmy playing and really trying to focus on our stuff, kind of the time flew pretty quickly.
Q. He was a real cheerleader for you this week.
DANNY WILLETT: He's a great guy. He's a great golfer. And we just had a great week. At nighttime, seeing all the guys, I haven't done this format for two years now. So, yeah, it's nice that the tournament is back on, and it's lovely.
Q. This has been such a strange and difficult year for you with the injuries and the illnesses, what's this meant to you?
DANNY WILLETT: Yeah, it's a big one. Yes, it's been a relatively average year. We said we'd scratch the first after 2021 out, and fingers crossed now we've got six, seven events left we till we put the clubs down at Christmas, and hopefully we can push on a bit from this.
