ALFRED DUNHILL LINKS CHAMPIONSHIP

October 2, 2021

Danny Willett

St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland

Quick Quotes

Q. Danny, you're leading the tournament proper, the pro part of it, and you're also leading the pro amateur. Your reaction?

DANNY WILLETT: We've got a good team. Jim is a great player, kind of in almost every hole, and I've obviously come with a little bit of trying to play well this week, me and Jimmy, a new partnership that we arranged back in April.

And so far is good.

Q. It's a golf course out there, coming home, bringing it back to the old town was very difficult, into the breeze. Just describe how tough it is to play in these conditions?

DANNY WILLETT: It is. The rain now is even worse. But, yeah, early on, a decent bit of wind, downwind, you always feel like it should take so many chances. You need to drive it close, and as soon as you get on the 12th tee, you know you've got pretty tough conditions coming straight into the wind on them last six holes.

But played them and we saw them in, gaining -- you know, really had a go on them the last six and gained a lot of shots coming in doing that.

Q. Playing in the Open Championship and mostly on the PGA TOUR, what's it like to come home and play links golf?

DANNY WILLETT: Yeah, it's great. It's nice that the fans are back this week, the format is back, we missed it last year. I think it's great to have everyone here. We're getting cheered on. Great to be back on British soil.

So, yeah, another 18 holes to go, and we'll see how we do.
