Quick Quotes
Q. You had eight birdies today.
LINDSAY WEAVER: Uh-huh.
Q. I would imagine eight birdies with what the leader is in the clubhouse, that's got to be a good sign and good hope for the rest of the weekend?
LINDSAY WEAVER: Yeah, I actually changed putters yesterday from this week, so I brought like three or four of them in my car when I drove here. So I kind of think I figured that out.
My putting was pretty good today. First time in a while that I've made some good putts like my old self, so that was good. I hit a lot of close shots, so that's always helpful.
Yeah, I feel like this course is just very attackable. The greens are soft so you can take dead aim.
Q. What putter did you have and what putter are you using now?
LINDSAY WEAVER: Both still Ping. It was a -- the first one was a Voss and now the other one I don't even know what it is. It's like a D, something, like letters and numbers. I'm not sure. But it's like more of a mallet shape.
So I was using that earlier in the summer and then I switched back to my blade putter and then just switched back this week to that.
Q. So who cares what it's called. All you need to know is it works.
LINDSAY WEAVER: If it goes in, I don't care. You can call it anything.
Q. I know you withdrew last week.
LINDSAY WEAVER: Uh-huh.
Q. Everything must be feeling good.
LINDSAY WEAVER: Yeah, I withdrew last week and just went home and tried to figure that stuff out. I think I did, and Dr. Thomas was helpful with that.
So now I feel a lot better this week. Didn't really think that I would, so, yeah.
Q. Good.
LINDSAY WEAVER: Yeah.
Q. Good to be in tip-top shape. This is your third straight year you played this event, I believe.
LINDSAY WEAVER: Yes, uh-huh.
Q. Cut the first year, T.
21 last year, and looks like you're right on that trend of continuing to improve?
LINDSAY WEAVER: I hope, yeah.
Q. What have you learned over the first couple years about this course and how to approach it over a three-day tournament?
LINDSAY WEAVER: Yeah, I feel like I learned quite a bit last year just about -- when I played my first year we played it in the summer, and last year played around the same time.
It does play a little bit different. The greens are just so soft this year and I feel like those courses are best for me. So I know this course a lot more, and it's nice drawing on fond memories from last year when I was playing pretty well.
So, yeah.
Q. Usually a lot of people do scoring on par-5s, but obviously these are a little longer par-5s. You didn't birdie any of them today. But to not birdie them and to shoot 6-under, I imagine you could potentially find an even lower score over the weekend.
LINDSAY WEAVER: Yeah, I believe I played them 1-over today, so that's not that good. Yeah, if I could just make one or two -- yeah, one or two birdies, then I'd have a significant improvement on Par-5s.
Q. For as attackable as the course is, can the par-5s -- can you find birdies on them?
LINDSAY WEAVER: Yeah, I think -- and especially like 18. I just didn't hit a very good drive. Didn't hit a good drive on 14 either. So that -- I was just totally out of position and couldn't get back in.
And then 2 is kind of a difficult one with the pin today. But, yeah, I think they definitely are attackable. Any time you have a wedge in your hand it's a great line.
