Quick Quotes

Q. Talk about what Emily did in that anchor group, in that final group.

CATRIONA MATTHEW: Just so proud of her. You just knew Danielle is a fantastic player, and for her to hole that and for Emily to hole that on top of her just shows how good she is.

Q. Emily, how much of a fight was that for you?

EMILY PEDERSEN: It was a bit of a fight because after 15 I knew we'd won, and I just wanted to go celebrate with everyone, so I just really had to collect myself.

But it felt really good to hole that last putt.

Q. When you knew that Catriona put you in that anchor match, what were some of the feelings that you felt, pressure, pride, or was it a mixture?

EMILY PEDERSEN: I think it was a mixture. I was happy she put me there. I was there in 2017 in Des Moines against the same player, and it felt really good to have another outcome. I felt a bit confident that Beany putting me there, so I was proud.

CATRIONA MATTHEW: We knew she could handle it.

Q. Compared to 2017, you said to me earlier this week that you felt like a completely different player, but how good is it on top of those different feelings to have won the Solheim Cup for Europe?

EMILY PEDERSEN: It's amazing, and then on American soil, and it's just with this group of people, they're all amazing. We're having such a good time, all the captains, vice captains. I can't wait to start the party.

Q. We were wondering about it all day. Obviously you had your boyfriend Ollie on Danielle Kang's bag. How was that for you?

EMILY PEDERSEN: I mean, it's always a bit strange, but at the end of the day we're out there to do a job. I know it's nothing personal, and he knows the same. I want to win, and it's just -- I get to tease him a little bit more tonight.

Q. Will you let him sneak into that European team party?

EMILY PEDERSEN: Yeah, I think he'll be allowed to come.

Q. When you look back at the week obviously this will be a highlight, but were there any other points in time where you thought, yeah, that was really key, this was really crucial?

CATRIONA MATTHEW: Yeah, obviously getting off to that three and a half to a half start was really crucial and great, and then I think it was Mel's winning -- did she win the point or a half point? It's all a blur.

But Mel yesterday and Leona getting that half or a win, but that point was really crucial for us, gave us momentum, I think, coming into today and kind of kept the spirits up in the team room.

Q. We've seen obviously -- we've heard from you, heard from the players, but we've seen all the support staff, fellow ex players, how much of a difference have they made to you?

EMILY PEDERSEN: They've been great. All of them I think were so comfortable with everyone. They're really good at supporting and giving out advice from previous Solheim Cups, and it's just -- I really feel like this group of people is just amazing, and I'm so happy to have shared this moment.

Q. Emily, what was the initial reaction when you -- obviously you wanted to just go celebrate, but when you heard it and you heard it was Matilda and everything Matilda has been able to accomplish and to be part of this team, what were some of your initial thoughts?

EMILY PEDERSEN: I was so happy for Matilda. I think all of our rookies did so well, Nanna getting that half, Leona just smashing it to begin with. It was so crucial for us. I just really had to collect myself on the last three because I could see them and I could hear the "oles" and I just wanted to celebrate, but it was nice to get it done.
