Quick Quotes
Q. How would you assess your performance?
VIKTOR HOVLAND: It was a nice start with a birdie on 1, and then I played really solid the first 10 holes, hit a lot of good shots to 15, 20 feet, but they all seemed to be downhill putts and out here when you just have downhill putts you can't be very aggressive, so I just ended up 2-putting a lot. Made a, finally made a putt on 12 and got to 2-under for the day. And after that I just started hitting my driver pretty poorly, missed a bunch of fairways, and as soon as you do that out here you have to scramble and I felt like I did a good job of that, but a little disappointed I didn't get a few more birdies in today.
Q. Do you feel like -- obviously you're still playing well, even though you maybe didn't drive it as well down the stretch -- do you like where your position is through 36 holes with 36 more to go to try to make a run at the leaders?
VIKTOR HOVLAND: Yeah, I mean I definitely feel like the game is there to make a bunch of birdies and if I make a few putts and get my driver going, I feel confident that my irons can really hit it close and set up some birdies. But I would rather be a few shots fewer behind.
Q. This course definitely sets up a little bit easier to go after the leaders than like the last two weeks, if I'm not mistaken.
VIKTOR HOVLAND: Yeah, the thing is like it's easy to make bogeys, but it's also hard to make birdies. So I feel like a lot of times you're just going to be playing good, hitting it a lot middle of the green and if the pins are accessible you can make a birdie. But solid play is going to give a lot of pars, I feel like, it's hard to really get off to a hot start where you're 7-under through 10 or whatever, you have to get some bounces going your right way and, yeah, just the pins that make it tough and with the greens being firm and fast.
