Q. How were you able to persevere?
PATRICK CANTLAY: Same as I have all week. I felt like I tried to stay in my own little world. One of the reporters asked me this week, Are they going to get to 30-under? I didn't think so but it felt like it.
Q. As you go to East Lake and the TOUR Championship, what does that say about where you are right now with your game?
PATRICK CANTLAY: My name feels really good. It has for a while now, since Memorial, and I'm finally starting to putt like me again. It's really nice.
Q. You took a little bit of a victory lap there on this 18th green after this long playoff to acknowledge the crowd. What was it like playing in this atmosphere, this cauldron once again?
PATRICK CANTLAY: It's so nice to be back with fans, and they were just so supportive all day. They've been supportive for the last four days. Just the chants of Paddy or "Paddy Ice," I'm hearing it all week, and it's fun. It's great to have them back, and they were awesome today.
Q. Speaking of Paddy Ice, you looked so calm on the outside. When you're standing over that putt, knowing you have a chance to get a victory in this playoff over Bryson, what's going on inside?
PATRICK CANTLAY: I'm just as focused as I can be. If I look the way I do, it's because I am locked in and focused, and I felt like that today.
Q. What was today like for you?
PATRICK CANTLAY: It was a grind. It was way more holes than I thought I was going to play today, but it was more of what we've seen all week. The golf course was easy, so you needed to make a bunch of putts and make a bunch of birdies, and I did.
Q. Walk me through the putt on the 18th to force the playoff.
PATRICK CANTLAY: I had been leaving the last few short. The greens were a little beat up, and then on the last hole, it's just so uphill, and I just gave it just a little bit extra, but it poured right in the hole.
Q. You've never finished higher than 20th in the TOUR Championship. You'll start next week with a two-shot lead. What does this win do to get your hands closer to a FedExCup?
PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, I think the most important thing for next week is treating it like a regular tournament and trying to see just the lowest score you can shoot every day. I think not getting caught up in the two strokes ahead or whatever it is is the best way to handle that situation.
