Quick Quotes
Q. Elaine, commiserations, of course. How would you reflect on the last day here at the Curtis Cup?
ELAINE RATCLIFFE: I think the players dug deep, and we after eight, nine, ten holes, it looked still close. It looked like we could do it, and I think we pushed the Americans. And I think some of the Americans, some of the players found another level and played some cracking golf to finish, and I think that was the difference.
There was a lot of matches that were close, and they just went their way. I think that was almost a reflection of the day. We held in there for probably 9, 10, 11, 12 holes even, and then there were some magnificent shots hit, and unfortunately all then just fell the wrong side on 17 and 18. We had quite a few games that went down to 17 and 18, but they all went their way, yeah.
Q. Do you think it was just a case of hands up on the final day beaten by the better team?
ELAINE RATCLIFFE: I think in the end, obviously, those final holes, they played the better golf and pulled off some great shots. But we fought hard, and that's what we came here to do, and we certainly did that. I'm very proud of all the players and the manner in which they played and the manner in which they do everything.
Yeah, they dug deep and fought hard. Yeah, we needed more putts to drop.
Q. You mentioned how proud you are of the players. How do you reflect on the week as a whole, the three days?
ELAINE RATCLIFFE: I suppose the reflection is we just needed a few more points, you know. We needed a few more wins out there. It was always going to be close. For us to win, it was always going to be close.
Yeah, it's been a phenomenal three days. It's been a phenomenal three days. Highs and lows, as I said in my speech. Yeah, we could have just done with a couple of more highs today.
