August 20, 2021
Carnoustie, Angus, Scotland, UK
Mixed Zone
Q. Can you give us your thoughts on the performance today?
SEI YOUNG KIM: I played quite solid front nine. I missed the tee shot on holes 10 and 11, and I got in the bunker, both got in the bunker, and then you know, this links course, if you go in the bunker, you automatically lay up. That's the reason why I had two in a row bogey.
After that, we had a good birdie chance, hole on par 5 and I make the birdie and the last three holes are really tough, and I hit a couple shot and miss it, and that's the reason why I had a couple more bogey. So yeah, a little disappointed with that, but yeah, just try to keep positive myself, and just prepare for this weekend.
Q. What was your first impression of Carnoustie during your first practise round?
SEI YOUNG KIM: A lot of bunkers and a lot of water. It's a typical links golf course, very interesting. I heard that Ben Hogan, he won the tournament, so I heard the history, it's really good history. This golf course is really nice. I'm very happy to play this golf course.
Q. And it's been such a crammed schedule on the LPGA this summer. How is your energy level right now and how are you feeling physically?
SEI YOUNG KIM: Well, you know, I played Tokyo and after the Olympics, I had a week off and then I came here. Mentally, not tired, but physically, a little bit tired, I think, because some blisters on my lips, which just means a little bit of tired.
Even then, I'm just a little bit tired.
Q. Are you hoping that the wind picks up? Would you like to see this course and play the course windy, or do you like the weather like this?
SEI YOUNG KIM: I like the windy weather. It's tough. I like the wind weather. Yeah, I feel a little wind on this course, it's real challenging. It's not an easy course and without the wind, it's also not an easy course. I don't know, just either, fine.
