Quick Quotes

Q. 10-under, new course record?

ALLY EWING: It was really solid. Felt like the conditions were going to allow for a little bit better scoring today, so making the turn at 4-under, dropping a shot at 10 and getting it back on pace and shooting 9-under 63 is a lot of fun and certainly a good feeling to capitalise on the last round leading into a major.

Q. Are you aware as you're moving up the leaderboard, putting together such a good score?

ALLY EWING: Yeah, I mean, we have a few leaderboards out there, so I was able to see kind of where the leaders were at. But yeah, liked, I feel like the conditions were yielding probably lower scores today. So I just wanted to go try to post a number. Definitely it's not going to be enough but still a great round and a lot of fun.

Q. An eagle birdie finish, not many of those. Must be icing on the cake?

ALLY EWING: For sure. Liked, putting in a good round before going into the British Open at Carnoustie, I'm excited. My game is in a really good place and can't wait to see Carnoustie tomorrow.

Q. Ruling yourself out of a playoff? You've put yourself right in the mix.

ALLY EWING: You never know. I feel like there's some really good players towards the top of the leaderboard right now. Certainly would I love to get a chance for a playoff or something like that. They are great players. I'm sure they will be composed coming down the finish and it will be a fight to see who wins.

Q. Are you looking at bigger picture, you mentioned British Open and also Solheim Cup?

ALLY EWING: Yeah, we have some fun weeks coming up. I love my time here and playing in Scotland is fun. It's always a treat to play links golf, and yeah, I can't wait for next week, and as well for Solheim in Inverness.

Q. Just when you were attacking this final round, did you imagine a 63?

ALLY EWING: It's really funny, I was talking to my grandmother last night. Had some family stuff going on earlier in the week so touched base a lot and I was speaking with my grandmother and she said, well, how did you do, where are the leaders and I said I was at 2-under and the leaders were at nine and she said, well, just go shoot that tomorrow. I said, oh, Granny, that's quite the type of golf we are playing over here.

I didn't think of it until I just signed my scorecard. That was a lot of fun and just great to capitalise on it.

Q. I know you mentioned you saw a couple leaderboards as you were going through the course but for you when did you really feel the momentum pick up for yourself?

ALLY EWING: I felt like teeing it up, I could go shoot a good number. The wind was not as strong. If I took care of the holes that were gettable and just gave myself a lot of good look, I felt like my game was in a place where I could go shoot a good number. Certainly 9-under is not something that you put in your head because they are just so few and far between. It's a special round but a lot of good confidence momentum for next week.

Q. How much fun was it out there when you're playing like that, is that one of the most fun rounds you've had in a bit? Links is different from what we usually experience.

ALLY EWING: Yeah, it's so good to see balls go in, and see putts roll in, to execute shots that you're trying to execute, it feels really good. There was at one point after I had bogeyed 10 and I missed about a 5-footer on 11 for birdie, I had to kind of tell myself, you're still playing great golf and I think that was a huge shift in me to be able to play the last seven holes the way I did. I was able to turn around and finish strong which was great.

Q. How great of practise is it when you're thinking of Carnoustie and how excited are you to take on that course?

ALLY EWING: Yeah, we hear a lot of just it being one of the tougher courses here in Scotland, so I think it's going to be a treat to go see it tomorrow. You know, I come over here and I get excited to see these historic golf courses and Carnoustie obviously has a great name for itself. So yeah, I can't wait and we'll go see, nine holes tomorrow, nine holes Tuesday and play in the Pro-Am and tee it up on Thursday.
