Dumbarnie Links

Quick Quotes

Q. So a total of five birdies today, and how are you finding the course? And do you still find links golf a challenge?

ARIYA JUTANUGARN: It was quite tough out there because it's pretty windy. When I got here, it's not quite windy. But as soon as I start, it's really windy.

It's pretty tough today. But you've got to be patient because the wind going to make you feel frustrated really easy. So be patient and play the with wind.

Q. And coming back to a tournament where you've won before, how are you preparing for the rest of the week?

ARIYA JUTANUGARN: Even I won before, but it's different golf course. And I prepare, what I say before, making sure I have patience on the course because the wind is -- we know the wind is going to pick up.

Q. You had some long birdie putts out there, some nice ones that went in. What was working well for you, and how do you find yourself on the greens this week?

ARIYA JUTANUGARN: I feel like I did make lots of long putt, two or three today, but I miss a lot of short putt too. So I just feel I read the green okay, but I missed the putt, the short putt, with the short putt. But with the long putt, I feel I was just pretty lucky to make long putts.

Q. You're among 11 other Thai golfers. How does it feel to be at a tournament where a Thai company is the sponsor?

ARIYA JUTANUGARN: It's so great, especially the Trust Golf sponsor is helping all the golf, like LPGA and all the Thai golfers. So we have more Thai players on this event. It's so warm because so much Thai around. And I played with Patty today, and we have so much fun.

Q. I know you and Patty are pretty close. You both finished with 3-under, being able to trade birdies back and fourth. What was that like for the both of you today?

ARIYA JUTANUGARN: I would say I'm not closer at all until last week.

Q. Really.

ARIYA JUTANUGARN: We stayed together, and then we hang out together, we practice together. And then we talk all the time. Like today it's just so much fun. And, you know, to watch her play some really solid game today, and she make a lot of up-and-down, really tough one, and make few birdies, amazing.

Q. When you guys are stuck together in that environment during the Olympics, I feel like you're forced to become close. What was that like to be able to get closer to her? And I'm sure she was priming you for questions as well.

ARIYA JUTANUGARN: I want to say like to get to know her more, she really interesting. I feel like she's really cool. Her determination, practice so hard, but at the same time social. So I feel like she's just going to be the best role model for the young Thai kids.

Q. I know you both use Pia and Lynn to really help with your mental games as well. What has it been like for you the last couple of events? You've had to balance some outer thoughts as well as what's going on outside of the course?

ARIYA JUTANUGARN: I've been working with them five years. Patty has been working with them one or two years. It's pretty cool to see how she manage herself, and of course Pia and Lynn helping me a lot since 2016.

Q. And just going into tomorrow, what do you take away from this round, especially with the weather that's impending?

ARIYA JUTANUGARN: I hope tomorrow the weather going to be better, not this windy. But just keep doing the same stuff, be patient and work on my tee shot so I always getting better.

Q. Thank you.
