Quick Quotes
Q. On today's round, it was pretty good out there, wasn't it?
GARRICK PORTEOUS: Yeah, I played lovely, to be fair. It was a bit tricky early on. The wind picked up and just distance control was a little bit sloppy to begin with, but then holed a few putts and got into the round nicely.
Q. What are the sort of challenges out there? What's the challenge of coming to a different course?
GARRICK PORTEOUS: Yeah, there's a lot of doglegs out there so you're hitting a lot of irons off the tee just to put yourself in position, and I did that nicely. Just gave myself a lot of opportunities, especially the past couple of days. I didn't finish the best yesterday, but today finished really strong, and looking forward to the weekend.
Q. Looking forward to the weekend, so you're in contention. What's it feel like to be in contention because there's been moments where you might not have been here. To be in contention is what you want to be.
GARRICK PORTEOUS: Definitely, yeah, yeah. I've just come off the back of three weeks off, so coming here I didn't really have massive expectations. I've been doing some really good work with my coach, and it seems to be paying off, and it's just nice to come back refreshed and ready to go.
Q. Tell us about the dynamic of this event because you're not competing against them but it's nice to have the ladies here on the same course under the ISPS Handa banner.
GARRICK PORTEOUS: Oh, yeah, it's a great atmosphere, like you say, having us all play in one event. It's a totally different atmosphere than we're used to, and it's just nice to see people coming out to watch that you probably wouldn't normally see.
Yeah, looking forward to weekend. I know Galgorm we've played it in the past a few times and the crowds are great, so looking forward to playing in front of them.
Q. Can you just tell us what sort of a challenge it is out there, this golf course?
GARRICK PORTEOUS: It can be quite challenging if you get out of position. The fairways are very firm at the minute from the weather in the previous weeks, so if you can basically just plot your way around, you can mess up a few holes just from not doing much wrong. If you're strategic in the way that you're going around the course, you should put a good number on the scorecard, and the greens are flawless. Compliments for that, yeah.
