Quick Quotes
Q. Hole-in-one first.
MARTHA LEACH: Hole-in-one, my caddie did an excellent job in yardage.
Q. How do you spell Madison's last name?
MARTHA LEACH: G-E-R-S-T-L-E. We figured it was 120 so I said I just need a nice smooth 9-iron, and I hit it perfect. And when it came off the (indiscernible) go in, because I was a little frustrated because I four-putted No. 13. I putted off the green and did that.
I'm sure I'm not going to be the only one that does that. I hope. (Laughter.) But after that...
Q. Three-putts and a chip.
MARTHA LEACH: Yeah, uh-huh. I hit it solid. Just hit it solid.
Q. Did you see it go in?
MARTHA LEACH: No, I did not. Madison is just a little bit taller than I so she could see it. She was jumping and Jan was saying she was jumping and she knew it was a good shot, so...
Q. Two bounces and in or...
MADISON GERSTLE: It was a bounce and -- or it just hit and then it rolled about four feet; dropped in.
Q. Just like a putt.
MARTHA LEACH: Yeah, just like a putt.
MADISON GERSTLE: Right easy speed.
Q. And then you birdied the next one.
MARTHA LEACH: Yes. I hit two good shots and had Madison read the putt and she said, You're downhill this time. Remember, you know... (laughter.)
So I made it so it was nice. And it was nice playing with Jan. I've known Jan since I was probably 13, and she was saying to back up a hole-in-one with a birdie is really awesome, so that was really nice.
Q. And you probably knew, but you went three, two, two, one, on the par-3s today.
MARTHA LEACH: I did, but I didn't play the par-5s well. But that's okay. I made it up on the par-3s. I'm thankful for that.
Q. How did you feel (Wind interference.)
MARTHA LEACH: You know, my 9-iron hit really well today. It was the weirdest thing. I didn't putt very well today. Didn't have a good feeling on the speed of the greens.
I hit it okay. I just hit it okay. Nothing to write home about. I'm happy with my round. It's all about getting it to the hole, and I just stayed true to myself and just keep plugging along and hit good shots. And to have a hole-in-one makes it all worthwhile.
