Q. Bogey-free 66 to start the week; how happy are you with that?

ALEJANDRO CAÑIZARES: I'm very happy, very happy. One of those days that you finish and you're proud of yourself. I didn't feel like I had my "A" game. My long game wasn't great. But I made some great recoveries, made some great pars on my front nine, the back nine, and just took advantage of the opportunities on my back nine, which was the front nine. Really happy; I hit a really bad drive on the last and I had 255 yards to the pin into the wind, so I hit a 5-wood middle of the green, two-putt, so happy.

Q. A few cuts missed in recent weeks, but last week a good finish and today you're playing well. Have you been working on something, something clicked in your game?

ALEJANDRO CAÑIZARES: No, to tell you the truth, I've been hitting the ball quite nicely this year, but it hasn't been easy to score for me, but I know my game is there, I've just got to believe it and play good. I mean, since Austria I've felt like I was hitting the ball quite nicely but I wasn't scoring. I was struggling to make cuts.

Surprisingly today I didn't hit the ball that good and I shot 4-under, so you just never know. It's just a matter of -- I think it's a matter of attitude and interpretation of the situation for me more than technical work. But I've got to mature up even more.

Q. You were telling me before we started that you were here early in the week and the course was rock hard like a links course and today a lot softer. How difficult is it to adjust halfway through a week like that?

ALEJANDRO CAÑIZARES: Yeah, well, it's one of those weeks you're looking at two golf courses, both of them rock hard, and you're thinking about hitting 4-irons off the tee, 3-irons, and today with the wind and the wet you've got to hit more drivers, more 3-woods. It has changed a lot, but still held up really nicely. It's been raining for two days, a good solid rain, and we got lucky today that we didn't get much rain.

The greens are beautiful. They're rolling beautiful. They're not that soft -- they are soft but not that soft, and the fairways are the same; they are soft but not crazy soft. Yeah, it's in good condition, great condition, this golf course.
