Q. Matthias, thank you so much for joining us, and congratulations on a fantastic championship here at the 149th Open. You are our silver medalist. Can you reflect on what that means to you?
MATTHIAS SCHMID: I just got told some of the names that has been on the list for a silver medal, and I'm proud of myself I was able to join it this week. That was the goal coming in here.
I played some pretty good golf. Putter was a little cold on the weekend, but I'm still proud of myself, how I handled it.
Q. Is there any of those names that stand out to you?
MATTHIAS SCHMID: I mean, the likes of Justin Rose, McIlroy. It's something special to play well here as an amateur. I guess it doesn't happen too often. So I'm very, very happy that I could do it this week.
Q. First of all, congratulations on winning the silver medal. It's a massive achievement. I'm just wondering overall, over the four days, just kind of talk through your emotions and how happy you are to win and also what possible plans you have for the future then.
MATTHIAS SCHMID: Thank you, first of all. I got off to a rough start on Thursday, where I didn't play too badly but obviously had a terrible finish. So I was pretty hurt after Thursday.
The finish on Friday made me feel a lot better, and I played great over the weekend too, just couldn't hole any putts.
But the game's in good shape, and I will tee it up in Wales next week and see what I can do.
Q. Your 65 on Friday must have been the highlight of the week and certainly put you into -- especially the back nine, a 31. Knowing that you had to go low to get to the weekend, you must be delighted now that you have the medal in your pocket.
MATTHIAS SCHMID: Yeah, Friday afternoon was obviously huge. I was very nervous, but I kept it together. I played solid and had a lucky break there, a couple lucky breaks at the end, which you need, especially with things going wrong on Thursday.
Friday was huge, and I'm happy to stand here with the silver medal.
