Wimbledon, London, UK
Press Conference
G. MUGURUZA/L. Pattinama Kerkhove
6-1, 6-4
THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.
Q. How would you describe what it's like to see some players like the Williams sisters playing into their late 30s, 40 years old? And what are your thoughts of the passage of time and its effect on players?
GARBINE MUGURUZA: My thoughts? I think it's remarkable to not only be playing here in Wimbledon at this level but just, you know, the passion and the sacrifice and commitment that you have to do to be a tennis player and, you know, how much motivated they are to keep playing and to keep being in these stages and, you know, playing against the best.
You know, it's just very inspiring.
Q. You're approaching 28 years. How would you describe the effect of years on you, both positive and negative?
GARBINE MUGURUZA: Well, I'm starting to feel like I'm not the youngest anymore (smiling). You know, it's just the experience. I would say it's becoming a little bit easier, you know, just in an emotional way of talking. Because the more mature you are, the more you know how to deal with the situations.
When you're young, you take everything so, you know, high and down and emotional. You know, I take the good side of becoming 28, it's experience.
