Q. How does it feel to be at this stage now after being hit with that pitch in spring training and just being able to turn it up?
BRENNEN DAVIS: Feels good to be back out on the field and being able to do what I love. Being hit was a bummer but being able to come back and find my swing again was a huge step forward.
Q. What were you hoping to showcase today and how did those homers feel?
BRENNEN DAVIS: I was just hoping to come out here and have 2 to 3 good at-bats and really just have fun and enjoy the moment and kind of embrace it. And to make hard contact and be in high elevation with big league balls is kind of nice.
But it's surreal.
Q. From your experience just today, how much does the ball fly here more than it normally does for you?
BRENNEN DAVIS: Well, I'm currently playing in Knoxville Tennessee, so a lot more.
Q. Is it noticeable?
BRENNEN DAVIS: Yeah, it's definitely noticeable.
Q. You struck out swinging your first at-bat. What adjustments, if any, did you make those next two?
BRENNEN DAVIS: I was very late and I tried to be on time. Tried to keep it simple.
Q. I know this just happened, but how memorable is a day like this, to hit two home runs in a Futures game?
BRENNEN DAVIS: I mean, I can't put it into words because like I feel like it's still happening and I haven't been able to come down from what just happened and running around the bases. I don't know, you should ask me tomorrow. I'll have a better answer.
Q. Some of the American League guys were talking about getting to talk shop with Ken Griffey in the clubhouse. What about you? What are some of the people that you met and some of the experiences that you're going to tell stories about after this?
BRENNEN DAVIS: Yeah, being around Ken Griffey and guys like that, and all the players, I really enjoyed being around all those guys because those are guys that I hope to play against, play with later in my career. And it's just awesome to be around those caliber of guys.
Q. Is there such a thing as scouting or knowing the pitchers or anything about them in advance in a game like this? Did you go up there with ideas about the two guys that you hit them off of?
BRENNEN DAVIS: The first guy that I homered off of, I had no idea. But the second guy, I had gotten to see him the previous inning and then he came back out, so I kind of had an idea of what he had. I think it's kind of weird going from having a scouting report, in-depth, what they try to do, all this stuff and it's like a spring training at-bat where you have nothing.
Q. The guy you went back-to-back with, the final inning, Francisco Alvarez, he put on a BP show. What did you think of him?
BRENNEN DAVIS: He's a big boy. What he can do with the bat is very impressive, and he has a very bright future.
Q. Obviously going through the challenge of dealing with the pandemic, kind of finding your stride again this season, how much more did it mean for you to be able to come and represent the Cubs organization and show what you're capable of?
BRENNEN DAVIS: Yeah, being able to come off of a year like last year and have success is awesome, and it's just a testament to the hard work that I've put in through all those days that we didn't have baseball.
