Quick Quotes
Q. 11, 12, 13, back-to-back to back birdies. What did you do well on those three holes there?
BERNHARD LANGER: Two long putts. And what was the other one?
Q. 13, the drivable par-4.
BERNHARD LANGER: Yeah, I drove that. So I made two bombs from about 30 feet or 35 feet, which are bombs for me. Then 2-putted that one when I drove it.
Q. What's the key to making a long putt, like a bomb in your words? Is it just luck or?
BERNHARD LANGER: Well, you got to read it correctly, which is not easy here, and then you got to have the perfect speed for the read.
Q. What's your impressions of the finishing hole there on 18, only a couple birdies there all day so far?
BERNHARD LANGER: Well it's playing really long. I hit driver, three hybrid. And the driver rolled backwards because the fairway is so steep. You hit it, whatever, 280 and it rolls back 20. So that's no fun. It's uphill, side hill and it's windy. I think the wind plays a big part here, it's not consistent, it's swirling around. So my caddie said that one hole played like Amen Corner, like the 13th there, the 12th hole, it's always tricky.
Q. Do you feel like this course is a good setup for an Open Championship -- for a U.S. Open Championship?
BERNHARD LANGER: Yeah, the way they set it up, it is. I think the greens are a little too severe. This would be a phenomenal course if the greens had a little less slope and they could make them faster. They can't make them real fast because the ball would just roll off the green.
